I thought I read earlier in the year that they grey-shirted him.

a grayshirt is not binding-he backed out-if he still had opportunity-and committed to a directional Michigan team after Baylor or NTSU loss

Goulbourne committed to Western Michigan after the UNT loss.

Ouch, Western Michigan. If that kid was good enough to stick here under a new regime he is gonna regret choosing there over SMU.

The uncertainty has to be murderous. I can only imagine what guys like Tony Richards are going through, not knowing if the next coach will appreciate you.

The new coach may not have wanted him. But if the new coach wants him he can still go after him since nothing has been signed.

Tony Richards will be fine. His father is SMU royalty. They won't push him out unless it is for grades/behavior issues.

If he can't contribute then I don't know why we would keep him around. I don't seem to remember him having any other offers out of HP.

If his grades are good he could possibly transfer to an Ivy for football and get a great education as well

Not saying he's not a player that could contribute here down the road. Just seems like a project at this point that wasn't getting much attention from other schools out of high school. I'll defer to the next coaching staffs judgement though

I talked to Tony Richards about a week ago. He said he already has put on about 10 pounds since the start of school, and he clearly still has a lot of room on his frame for more bulk. As Digetydog said, his dad is SMU royalty and his mom was a standout swimmer — seems likely that he is far from done growing.

I saw Tony standing at the back of the endzone before the game Saturday. He looked like a BB player. Agree, he has the frame to put on weight, but he has a way to go.
