So we're better on the field than our recruiting. They must not be counting the last six games.

For the most part this is worthless (amazing how the majority are really right at about where the line is). If you don't recruit at all yet win one game, you're better on the field than at recruiting. Notice almost all the teams you would envy and are always in the hunt almost exclusive out recruit and underperform on the field.

Tennessee is the team that strikes me as doing much less than with the talent provided.

Quite the contrary in my opinion. As bad as we are it shows just how much worse our recruiting is.

Four coaches in six years will probably contribute to that. Also, Kiffin and Dooley signed some classes that looked good on paper but not so good when the games actually started.

The article says at the end of each of the last five seasons, or something like. Does that mean that JJ was coaching them up? s/o

Take a look at the schools at the Top of the Chart-then take a look at those at the Bottom of the chart-if you follow recruiting there's your answer
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

I agree, but we should be under the line, near the lower left corner (based on this year). If you plotted the last three years on that graph, I think it would show us headed straight for the lower right corner.
