Turner speaks to Hashimoto/DMN about SMU athletics

Hashimoto back at it trying over and over to get Turner to hint in any way that SMU might not be fully committed to athletics and football at SMU. Turner unequivocally saying over and over again that SMU is fully committed to being the best in the AAC.

Solid interview by R Gerald Turner. Loved this especially:

The goal of our athletic program is to be the best in the American Athletic Conference. Attaining that goal could help lead the American to be included with the other five top conferences or, if reorganization is incomplete within these leagues, SMU individually would be as attractive as possible. Therefore, our goal is to compete at the highest level possible.

If JJ would have recruited the way he SHOULD HAVE & didn't accept the ASU job, none of this would even be on the radar screen now.

SMU's commitment has been there as a resulf of JJ's salary & so forth. Hashimoto is like most media people - idiots who are too lazy to do their jobs. Have to admist one of the more stale or boring interviews I've read in a long time. Just a lot of verbiage going nowhere. Next.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

How many times does Turner have to say we are going to compete at the highest level? Is Mike Hashimoto [deleted] stupid or was he just not listening?

Wasn't getting the 'answer' he was looking for. Just like an interrogation, keep asking over and over in various ways to obtain your desired outcome.

Turner can say "we are going to compete at the highest level" as many times as he wants. It is complete BS. SMU football is nowhere near competing at an acceptable FBS level.
Hashimoto is not stupid and was listening.

I think RGT gets it this time around. He knows that if we get left behind the game is over. Being the laughingstock in sports won't help admissions. And they have witnessed TCU going into Big 12 as an awakening so I feel that this time around they are really committed.

Yeah, too bad he wasn't one of the Hashimoto's that got vaporized by the A-Bomb. With that being said RGT is just a politician and I still don't believe he wants us to be a premier football school.
