Re: Wall StreetInteresting but don't know if its good or bad.
It's an awful big economy out there with so many parts for the taking - or conquering. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Wall StreetI enjoyed seeing SMU on the list at least, it is probably the field but I have yet to actually work/ run into someone that also has graduated from SMU that works in research.
Re: Wall StreetIt's surprising that Harvard had ten fewer go in 2014 vs. 2013. Wharton is definitely the go to place for recruits and Stern has a big class of grinders too.
UT pulls in quite a few and I'm surprised by Georgia's numbers. Florida has a nice Masters in Finance, only for its undergrads, and they seem to place well in IB. Maybe it's quite regional. I'd suspect that a few Cox students go into research in Houston and then make their way to NYC. On a separate fun note, my Cox MBA mentee from two years ago is now at a Houston firm as an IB associate.
Re: Wall StreetTo be expected. Wharton UG is a factory for investment banks. Nyy stern obviously benefits from being in NY.
For MBAs, investment banking careers aren't as attractive as they used to be and the top schools for banking have historically been Wharton, UChicago, Columbia and NYU Stern.
Re: Wall StreetAfter the general managemyent appeal ended, HBS sent quite a few to Wall Street until the late '90s/early '00s turn to hedge funds and PEGs. Last year, HBS sent 15% of its 900 student class to VCs, hedge funds and private equity.

Re: Wall StreetWonder how many banks they are taking these number from (just bulge?). I'm going to a middle market bank in NYC, so I'm curious if I'm part of that number.
Also I can't imagine those 2014 numbers are complete because not all the banking classes are completely full yet.
Re: Wall StreetThat seems like a number that's more than bulge bracket but not sure which banks are included. We definitely need to bump up our #s in analyst classes. Sending more grads to IB analyst jobs is definitely a good thing for the school as these kids typically go on to do well long term. Since 2014 grads have started, I'm not sure why you think those numbers aren't complete.
Also, NewAge I did research out of SMU undergrad but in Houston. A guy in my fraternity also went into research in NYC.
Re: Wall StreetI do life science research. Just now starting the faculty job hunt
Re: Wall StreetNice, and good luck on the search. What kind of research? Industry or Academia? Also White Helmet were you searching?
Re: Wall StreetI do Microbial Pathogenesis. Looking for academic positions in Texas right now. If that washes out next year will be the mass CV blasting
Re: Wall StreetNice, i'm currently working in radiochemistry/ molecular imaging
Re: Wall Street
I'm not sure why I would think that either haha. I think I was thinking of my class as the 2014 analyst class for some reason, but we are the '15 class.
