Or Justin...
Ugh I always call him J Mart when I see him on campus. Thanks.

Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?Yanick or Ben. KF is what he is. He's SMU's version of William Buford. Always going to be solid, not gonna be the guy to get 25 a game or just explode imo. I wouldn't mind being proved wrong but I'm not seeing an unbelievable amount of athleticism or anything to suggest otherwise at the moment, granted he was a freshman last year.
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?Has Yanick enrolled for the Fall Semester or has he been seen on campus?
There was some comment during the Global Games that he might not return to SMU. Has there been any further expansion of that topic? If he comes back and if he is in shape, I believe he will be the breakout player of the year.
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?
Yes he has been seen on campus and a picture of him at SMU was on twitter not long ago. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?really expect the entire team to be improved, but history tells us that most guys improve the most between their Fr and Soph years, so I think we'll see big things from Sterling, Ben and hopefully Keith. I'm not sure anyone stands out but I expect to see great team basketball. Some of my fondest memories from last year were when these guys made multiple crisp passes and got easy looks to finish
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?I really hope it's Yanick. Call me crazy but I think we're really going to miss Williams and Russell this year. Hopefully JMart can fill Russell's shoes. Who will fill Williams's? Ben? It was supposed to be Tolbert. Maybe we'll get lucky and the other Ben gets eligible. Speaking of which, shouldn't we have heard something by now?!?
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?Ben and Sterling most likely. But we NEED KF to make the biggest jump.
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?
lol... go away
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season? It's really exciting that one (or all) of YM, KF, SB or BM could make that leap.
What really gives me hope is that I have faith in the Coaching Staff's ability to develop talent and bring out the best in each player. This is such an underrated aspect of the game and one that needs to be recognized on a daily/weekly basis. I am extremely grateful. Specifically I am looking for: - YM's offensive post moves, continuing to run off of a D-reb - KF's ability to break down a guy off the bouce, move without the ball to get into position for a catch and shoot, get and stay in a defensive stance and team defense - SB's extended 3 point range and ability to stay in front of quicker/smaller guards - BM's ability to finish at the rim and hit a 12-15 foot jumper "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

Exactly. We're gonna be really good. Party at The Wopper!
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?Don't expect Yanick of the World's to show this season, if only b/c Brown doesn't run his type of system. Yanick killed in a relentless up n down game. Grab the board and go, something we just don't do.
Not hating on Brown, but he has his setbacks for certain players, see the 04 Olympics. Worst coaching job since John Thompson pre Dream Team. He's my favorite American coach, but I'll never forgive him losing to the Dominican Republic by over 20 starting Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson.
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?Interesting point. In my gut I don't expect much from Yanick. I know he can play, but don't expect much here. Depending on your poker strategy, sometimes you discard an ace.
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season? The LB-Yanick dynamic seems still to be better understood. Yanick went from starterto off the radar last year. How bad was his injury? How complete was his recovery? It seemed like there just were not minutes for him when he came back. Why? Did he earn a spot in the doghouse or was it just a question of others doing more of what LB was looking for?
With four bigs this season there ought to be minutes. LB being a defense first guy would seem to indicate that if Yanick alters and blocks shots in he mddle, rebounds and clears the ball effectively he'll be ok. Party at The Wopper!
Re: Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?@JonRothstein: SMU's Ben Moore averaged 6.2 PPG and 3.6 RPG last year in 14.8 MPG. What happens if plays 25 MPG? Walking double-double. 6-8 and LONG.
