Good sportmanship awards are far more important than any championship...

The truth is this goes on in every SEC venue except Vandy. This time it played out loudly on the SEC Network.

Happens at Vandy, too... when their students actually show up for a game. Unfortunately for Vandy, that only happens when there isn't a big dungeons & dragons tournament or pretend-quidditch match.

The difference, though, is that there is absolutely nothing intimidating about a 145lb guy with coke bottles for glasses getting in your face and yelling at you... One of my more entertaining quips to an opposing fan was to a Vanderbilt kid that looked about like that. I was wearing Ole Miss gear and he started running academic smack at a football game so I just calmly turned to him and pointed out that we had a lot in common - all of our Ivy league rejection letters.

In hindsight, I think the real winner of the party was Katy Perry...

She also got to hug a giant teddy bear, which I'm sure made her day:

Thank goodness no one acts like that at SMU or Bama games!

Okay, I'm joking!

Its nice to see the usc lady flipping off mizzou right in front of her teenage son. fantastic example to set

Well, actually if she wants to set a good example, she needs lessons from me on how to properly flip the bird. :D

She certainly has her qualities... 2 in particular.

Forgive me, though, for feeling a bit like we all did when the celebrity cavalcade descended on Moody Coliseum last spring...

For a guy that has heard a lot of really disparaging remarks about his home state over the years, it's awesome to see the famous, Hollywood types descend on my little slice of heaven (I love Dallas... but Oxford will always have a very special place in my heart)...

The celebrities in attendance in Oxford on Saturday included Katy Perry, Shepard Smith (duh... he's an Ole Miss alum), Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Octavia Spencer, and Tom Brokaw (who is actually rumored to be buying a house in Oxford - he guest lectures at Ole Miss about once a semester).

Throw in a Twitter shout out from Danica Patrick and it was a pretty nice weekend for my adopted home town (I grew up 30 miles outside of Oford).

Ole Miss students certainly know how to tear down the goal post and celebrate with them!

With all the talk about our athletic department, coaches, etc being weak in social media... your post is very profound.

If you ever want to see a truly engaged athletic director, follow Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork on Twitter. To be honest, we'll be lucky to keep him - some huge program will probably snatch him up... but the guy defines fan engagement as an athletic director.

Where would Rick Hart be before the biggest game in our program's history? Schmoozing a Hunt? Or donning a hard hat and t-shirt with an "average fan":

The group that famously waves the Washington State flag at Gameday every weekend? They got a tour of Ole Miss' campus and athletic facilities... from the athletic director:

His response to the goalposts being torn down:

I guess Vaught-Hemingway stadium project will start earlier than scheduled with replacement of goal posts. Congrats!

Wonder if Ole Miss will install the goal post that fold down like ours do?

Ol Miss AD can waste time on twitter and hob nob with opposing fans since he gets SEC money rolling in the door from everyone that wants to watch Alabama.

Our AD needs to suck up to Hunts because we have a light bill to pay.
