ESPN Announcers actually get it

Postby malonish » Sat Oct 04, 2014 12:21 pm

They are talking about how the consensus of fans is that June gave up long ago and bailed instead of just talking about "QB Guru" stuff.

Finally the truth is coming out
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Someone told them to say that when they were prepping for this game. They didn't troll message boards or talk to a couple Dallas bar flies to come to the conclusion. Someone with authority told them that.

The question is why did June give up? Is it because he's just an evil human being? I don't buy that

I think, for whatever reason, he just wanted out after the Arizona State fiasco.

My gut has long been that he took this job thinking it would be an "easy" gig that paid really well and it turned out that you... imagine this: have to work your butt off to win at a program like SMU. I don't think he was willing to do the work and, on top of that, he never really got along with the administration.

Poor work ethic is the answer? I think the answer has to do with why he wanted to leave for Arizona state in the first place. You don't get to his level without being a hard worker. I don't buy that either

I think he took the job for the money (and to avoid the embarrassment of the team post-Brennan), and like most of us after a while you realize that wasn't the best move. He wasn't happy, tried to leave, and when that fell through he just shut it down. He was always a fish out of water in Dallas and never wanted to leave the islands.

That being said, he lied to SMU, his players, and the fans many times over and left us in every bit as bad of a situation talent-wise as he walked in to. He's a sorry individual in my opinion, and I think he's done forever as a college coach.

He said when he got here that his being here was for a higher purpose, as if it was a spiritual calling. Said there was a story that maybe he'd share someday. Was was that?

I don't know for a fact, but it's a good assumption that it was nothing more than BS.

I hear the answer cost $2MM a year over multiple years, with no guarantee.
