Going back to my "technically speaking" argument which is one step above "assume", any coach that doesn't think he has a chance to win every game remaining on the schedule shouldn't be the coach. And I am sure that is the way Bennett thinks. He is without a doubt convinced that we can win out the rest of the season regardless of how good UAB and UTEP are. Thus, he is going to use the QB that in his mind will best allow him to run the table (because he is convinced that he will run the table). That is why he will use Romo until we are mathematically eliminated from being bowl eligible. Until then, you'll see Romo. Is that technical enough for you? And if you want to reduce crime....

So how bout those Rangers :?

Good gosh.. if everyone is so upset, follow my lead and send back your tickets with a note saying "no more."

I'm not going back to campus until SMU starts holding people in the athletic department accountable.

SEND BACK YOUR TICKETS.. AND DO NOT GO TO GAMES. (Most don't go to games anyway).. so it's even easier when you don't have the tickets.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

the last thing SMU needs is for it's final few hard core supportive fans to decide to boycott the program and no longer attend games. It's tough enough to recruit players who will come in here and help turn this thing around...and to retain the guys we have on today's roster that might be part of the solution down the road. SMU already has among the fewest fans of any I-A program.

We are all understandably growing more frustrated by the week, but I'm reasonably certain it's much tougher on the coaches and players who are devoting MUCH more of their time to this endeavor than any of us. Hang in there, folks.

I cannot imagine that Dr Turner is oblivious to what is happpening. If you want to vent your frustration, e-mail him as others have done. He's the key to getting things done because he's in position to deal with others both up and down the food chain.

Look I rode 20 hours on a train to see the Mustangs in West Virginia. You guys can drive 30 minutes, eat and drink on the Boulevard with friends, go into the stadium for a couple of hours and cheer on the players who are trying to win. Boycotting only reinforces the theories of academic pinheads that we ought to scrap football because nobody cares.

But so far, Bennett is about the most overpaid headcoach in D-1 football. If all we wanted was 0-3 wins a season, SMU should have saved the money and kept Cavan!!

EastStang - This is one of the smartest post I have seen on this board in a long time. Boycotting only hurts those who are working as hard as they can to right this ship. We have to show our support for the members of the team and for future recruits. All season ticket holders, alums, students and everyone on this board needs to attend each and every home game.

If you want to boycott something, then stop giving to the Mustang Club, stop making contributions to the colleges, stop buying season tickets (get the cheap inzone tickets then sit whereever you want), but do not stop attending the games. When the Mustang Club realizes that they are only going to raise $500,000 instead of $1.4 million, then something will happen. The athletic department deficit will increase by another cool million, and the fundraising of the colleges will drop. Then the president and trustees will start to see what happens when you don't have a competitive D-1 football team.

Now we not only sent the message that we need to improve our current football team but also have shown what will happen if we drop from D-1.

Thanks EastStang
Just send 'da money.

I love the boycott idea. If only five hundred show up for the final home game (with two hundred being free tickets) it would show SMU that its loser ways are not going to work in Division 1-A. It is funny how many have already boycotted SMU football (and basketball for that matter) for the last ten years. There are only a few of us morons left who still go to the games to watch pathetic uninspiring football. Good thing they have lots of booze on the Blvd. SMU sucks at football.

And who exactly is that?

I think boycott is the wrong word, because it connotes an embargo based on some principled reason, and I don't think anybody is suggesting that SMU's alumni base should be doing that. I wholly support anybody's decision to stop going to SMU games because the product SMU puts out there is not fun to watch. If the result is the same, then that's the product's fault, not the disinterested fans'.

That is exactly what my wife keeps telling me. She wonders what is seriously wrong with me in that every weekend I wake up believing that we will win, can't wait for game time, and usually I am pissed off and in a bad mood 5 minutes into the game. In fact I am pretty sure that SMU football is responsible for my hair loss and weight gain since college. Pulling out my hair and eating fatty foods is the only way to make the pain go away.
