Re: tacos and tom
On my way to Montana today, otherwise I'd be there.
Re: tacos and tom
Mason is a class act in a dead end situation. I have the up most respect for what he is doing and what he has done for our defense in the past. I think he knows there is no shot at getting the "interim" label removed, and for that, I respect what he is currently doing even more.

It was fun. No fireworks. I was disappointed no one asked if he moved pope back to defense to curry favor with the fans.

Please, those that attended, provide details for those of us that couldn't be there.

Did anyone ask if he tried to hire Tom Rossely to gain favor?

I thought that was your job.

Like someone pointed out in another thread if he is doing those thing to gain support he would not admit it publicly and not just say the opposite. No one would that is half way media savvy.

People in public positions get asked questions they do not want to answer all the time. I hope you will ask someday as I am interested in how he responds.
Re: tacos and tom
No need to ask as I would not care how he answered because I know what I see. You ask if you want to how he would answer. That is my opinion of the matter and it will stay the same.

Re: tacos and tom
He told about June calling him into his office, telling him he was resigning. Then met with the coaching staff about 15 minutes later. He had been through the same thing at Boise so he knew what he needed to do and what he wanted to do. He knew he had to do things his way. Reorganized practice - things are positive and upbeat - explained his theory on going full speed in practice. Told about the offense coming around - Morrison did a good portion of this. Talked about current recruiting and about staying in touch - they owe it to the team - it is part of their job. Discounted, emphatically, Claude Mathis' accusations about SMU not showing interest at DeSoto. Pope and Krstich spoke briefly. It was overall a good session. Manny's Uptown was good but greasy. I'd go again if they have another one. I probably left some junk out, but Mason covered it all. I think it is good that he is in charge.... and has taken charge.

Thanks. Great summary.

Interesting that he would single out Claude Mathis when there were other coaches saying the same thing. Calling out Mathis probably will not help him with DeSoto. Again, more than Mathis said this about SMU.

A few other things: During camp Kristich got no reps - but stayed after throwing to keep working on getting better. All the players are well aware of how hard he (K) works and really like him as their offensive leader.
Pope will move to inside linebacker, but not where he played last year. He will play where Joyner played and Horton/Yenga will play the other inside. He really likes Horton. But right now Horton needs a "vet" next to him to help get everyone lined up correctly. Maybe this lets Yenga play outside.
Morrison did a good job of showing where Kristich and receivers can make better decisions and have short gains be long ones. Some good video of that - he thinks they will learning quickly and get better at that.
Morrison will continue to tweak the offense week by week so it will look quite different by the end of the season.
At luncheon times all other coaches were out recruiting at local schools except Mason and Morrison.
Cornerbacks have been hurt a lot and that has really held the defense back.
It was about 80-90% full.
I think it was very good. Mason got around and talked to most people who were there.
He told me after that Cincy was not ready to play against Memphis, then their QB got hurt and they got killed. Thinks they can beat Cincy.
