SMU is not owned by the UMC.

Of course, according to Matthew, God is like a mother hen, which should give the U of Delaware an advantage.

Only the Methodists are ordaining gays of the 3 mentioned (Catholics of course adopted a don't ask, don't tell policy a long time ago). Maybe God is a fundamentalist at heart.

Oh, it's not? Strange how the encyclopedia think otherwise:

Southern Methodist University (SMU) is a private research university in University Park, a separate city inside the borders of Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1911 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, SMU operates satellite campuses in Plano, Texas, and Taos, New Mexico. SMU is owned by the South Central Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. 6,300 of the University's 10,800 students are undergraduates.

Stallion knows more about the legal organization of the university than the average Wikipedia editor.

Sorry to the God-haters, but the M was in the name of the school long before you were around and it will be there long after you are gone.

Possibly a bit harsh, but it's just so annoying to see so many people willing go to SMU and then spend the rest of their life vehemently trying to say the Methodists have nothing to do with the university, which is patently untrue.

Classes are completely secular. There is no religious course or chapel requirement. There is no religious consideration on admissions. What is methodist about that? We even serve alcohol on campus. Isn't the UMC explicitly anti-alcohol?

I'm not saying every student should go to chapel and take 20 hours of religion and crap like that, but nobody can dispute the Methodist church has a reasonably prominent role on the Board Of Trustees and we have one of the leading Methodist theology schools in the world. Plus, I like you so I'm not going argue anymore.
