When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: (No) More CowbellsGood luck. I've got a sister who's a Rebel married to one of those jack-a-ninny's. Good guy, but he's already brain-washed his 6 y.o. son with that damn torture device.
Re: (No) More CowbellsState has a nice campus, good stadium, mostly great fans, but those cow bells suck!
Re: (No) More CowbellsHow are they not penalized every game for "artificial noisemakers"? Does this ever happen?
Sent from my Motorola brick.
Re: (No) More CowbellsThe SEC made an exception in State's case. I can't remember what exactly the terms are, but the SEC more than a decade ago allowed State to swing those damned things at their home games.
Re: (No) More CowbellsMany years ago MSU was one vote short of overturning the ban of cow bells at away games. They secured the promise of U of Houston for their support of the bells in return for MSU sponsoring the Cougs for membership in the SEC. This must have been in the early 70s.
Re: (No) More Cowbells
Ok... put down the SEC Kool Aid... Mississippi State's campus is marginally more attractive than Texas A&M's campus... which is marginally more attractive than the abandoned city surrounding Chernobyl. As for the cowbells. Their days are numbered, in my opinion. For one, when MSU sucked it was kind of treated as "let the poor little losers have their annoying, redneck tradition". Additionally, there have been assaults at MSU games where people were hit with cowbells. In one case, a kid was knocked unconscious by an MSU student with a cowbell and he has sued both MSU and the SEC over it due to their policy of allowing them into the stadium. While the suit may never result in any damages, at some point MSU has to realize that allowing fans to bring metal objects with handles attached into the stadium is not exactly a wise policy - I have seen cowbells brandished as weapons numerous times in my life and I have no doubt that they will be used in that way by drunk MSU students and fans again if they are allowed to bring them into the stadium in the future.
