Re: The Memphis Coach
In the 1980's. Please compare attendance to other private schools in that time period.

agreed C-ya @ Milos!
Re: The Memphis CoachWe will never draw 32,000 paid against any AAC team-hell we wouldn't even draw 32,000 for The AAC Championship. the only way it might happen is if UH was in the Championship but they are in our Division

Re: The Memphis Coach
Dumb comment. Yes we can.
Re: The Memphis CoachYou like that?
I doubt whether SMU has had 32,000 paid of its own fans attend an SMU game in 50 years "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: The Memphis CoachWe don't have 32000 fans in DFW or elsewhere at this point. It is amazing that we even have 3200 with the garbage we have watched for most of now 30 years. The distance between 1985 and 2015 is the same as 1985 to 1955. However, with a good program with meaningful wins, ala TCU, we can create new fans. 32000 is less than 1% of DFW

Re: The Memphis Coach
When have TCU and BU had more than 32k of their own fans paid attendance pre Gary Patterson/Briles? Never too late to make history. I don't care what we have done or have not done, it is in the past and can't do anything about it. What we can do is win and build and atmosphere that makes people want to come watch a game. 6.5 Million residents in DFW.
Re: The Memphis CoachThe demand for football is growing exponentially, it is a sellers market and there is no excuse for us to be successful on and off the field.
Re: The Memphis Coach
I don't think it has happened in my lifetime and I'm older than 50. 30k was about the max we ever drew in the Pony Express days, although in the Mustang Mania giveaway era we did put something like 50k into Texas Stadium vs Grambling. I was there and was thinking at least half that crowd was there to see Grambling and their band, but they may have rooted for SMU somewhat
Re: The Memphis CoachWhat will it take to get you all to believe that it is possible to have a full house of our own fans, that it is possible to win more than 8 games, that it is possible to join a P5? It won't be easy but it can't be done. We are 30 years removed from the 80's era...our time to rise has come.
Re: The Memphis Coach
Let's just all agree that it's possible and all work to make it probable. Really no need to debate it any further. Let's get our damn coach... Pony up!
Re: The Memphis CoachI have to respectfully dispute some of Charleston Pony's memory. I too was a season ticket holder during the Pony Express and there were quite a few SMU games that nearly filled Texas Stadium and one I remember, I believe it was the Baylor game, Russ Potts gave away so many tickets Texas Stadium was overflowing with many unable to get in. I was also there for Grambling etc.
I go back so far that I remember SMU pulling 50,000 into the Cotton Bowl and the Cowboys and Texans barely drawing 15,000. But that was prior to the PE, of course. Long live Inez Perez!
Re: The Memphis Coachyeah we were talking paid attendance by SMU fans
