Here is the supposed 'threat' on film. Player actually shakes Patterson's hand while exchanging words with him. Apparently he told Patterson he shouldn't have been talking crap about his teammate, Ahmad Dixon last year. #28 is Orion Stewart, a friend of Dixon's who also plays the same safety position.

Looks like #28 almost goes after his own coach (Bennett)! The price for success, you gotta take some trash, riff, raff, and sprinkle in a little gangsta.

I actually found myself rooting hard for TCU during this game. Of course, I had to take a shower afterwards to wash off the guilt.

"I had a player kind of threaten me on the field." Either he threatened you or he didn't. I am sure Patterson is "kind of on a diet". From the video the player appears to be calm and civil, if anything Bennett is going in there to seperate them because he knows that Patterson will do anything to throw someone else under the bus after a lose.

Maybe the Big12 can give Patterson something like the Popemobile to keep him safe after the games.

Totally confused by this as well:

“I wanted to make sure I waited a year until I got to here, at this point, when it was at the heat of the battle to make sure I told him about the whole situation,”

Probably the worst time, in the heat of the battle, at this years game? He had an entire year to just pick up the phone, or say his peace face-to-face at the Big 12 meetings or anywhere else he ran across Briles. Great football IQ, not so much otherwise.

Uh no, like someone said, apparently thug means a school better than yours... No one is worst than TCU and the Whorens.

Compare Patterson's frequent media meltdowns after a loss to the post game press conferences of Larry Brown -- you know, a guy who's actually won a championship -- we are so lucky to have someone like LB representing our university. Hopefully we can make a similar hire in football - someone who can win a lot of games on the field and represent SMU with class off the field.

Gary Patterson is a phenomenal coach but he is completely classless as a person. No wonder one of his daughters refuses to talk to him. Can you imagine how big of a [deleted] he is when the cameras aren't on??

I did not see it the way at all. The young man shook Patterson's hand and patted him on the back. Then both he and Patterson said something but neither looked like they were in a dispute. Nor did the young man look like he was going to go after Bennett. Did not look like the young man was a riff raff gangsta at all to me.

Obviously the kid said something to irk Patterson enough to make the bogus threat claim. Bennett himself even said the kid mouthed off. Kid was a smart*ss, Gary exaggerated & whined, end of story.

I did not hear the conversation nor did I read Bennett's comments. Just looked like Patterson may have been exaggerating.

No one will ever really know what the kid said, but judging by Bennett's reaction he heard something and got rid of the kid before it turned into an incident.

I never made a threat towards anybody..

Briles: “The case has already been looked at and closed” on Gary Patterson accusing a Baylor player of threatening him.
