I don't know how old you are but we had ridiculously small crowds in the 80s when Dickerson and James were at their peak. I think we only had one sellout and that was against Arkansas which bought up probably half of the tickets or more. Also, remember that under Jones we played at home one week after upsetting TCU in Fort Worth against the defending conference champion, UCF. We received votes for top 25 for first time since DP. Hardly anyone showed up and I couldnt give my extra tickets away.

It was a 4-1 team that got blasted by atm to open the season. You think the stadium should have been packed for ucf? Try an 8 win team that beat tcu, smiss, ucf, Tulsa that year etc. Maybe pull off 10 or 11 wins and attendance improves greatly that season and the following. Instead juneses threw a [deleted] fit because statues were not erected in his name midseason for winning 4 games.

That was then, this is now. Best comparisons are Baylor and TCU....look at THEIR attendance in the 80's and look at it Now.

Actually that UCF game was 2 weeks after we upset TCU.

This was a great read. We need to go to an option based attack that will put our best athletes at qb. I watched Nick Marshall wash out here at Georgia because he was an athlete, not a pure passer like Aaron Murray. A theft charge sent him to JuCo where he flourished as a qb. He played in last year's national championship game as an option qb. Aaron Murray, a four star qb who through splendid spirals, never even won an SEC championship. Do we want to win or do we want to look pretty losing? I want a qb with some wheels.

Hmmm, just happen to have an ex-A&M 4 star sitting on our roster. Anyone think that would influence Morris at all? Pretty much a Taj Boyd clone coming out of high school.

I must say that's amazing (davis on our bench) coupled with the fact that we are arguably the worst team in d1a.

Marshall has developed into a very good passer.

That is not entirely fair. While people are complaining about fans not showing up to (SEC/UT/ETC) games now, the simple fact is that stadiums are much larger and generally more full than they were in the 80's. Compared to Baylor, TCU, Rice, our crowds were similar. The problem was we played in stadiums (Cotton Bowl and Texas Stadium) that were much larger than our needs. If you don't believe me, follow the "Fake Dan Beebe" on twitter. Baylor's old stadium had tarps in the endzone for 30+ years. Thus, the "Tarp Jokes." When I attended at game at TCU as a SMU student, the upper deck at AC stadium had ZERO fans and looked like it might collapse. Their crowds were similar to ours. I attended UT in the early 90's. While they had big crowds for "big" games (Aggies/Houston), the stadium had huge areas of empty seats for anyone else. Plus, that stadium was much smaller (and crappier) than the current version. Even before the renovation, Kyle Field was nowhere near the size it is now.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

Agreed 86. His story sounds similar to the Cam Newton saga. I think juco gave him a chsnce to refine his passing skills.
