This is consistent with what I heard this weekend. From the person I spoke with Mack is thinking it over but is leaning towards accepting.
To the naysayers....this is a man who has won a national title, appeared in another national title game, won multiple BCS bowl games, conference titles, etc. Is a legend among Texas high school coaches and can instantly elevate our standing among DFW high school coaches and recruits. This would be the best hire SMU football has made since Ron Meyer.
How many national titles has Morris or these other "hot" OC types won vs Mack?
Mack has 1 with the best talent in the country for 10 or so years. Heupel has 1. Kirby Smart as a hot DC has 3.
The myth that he had "the best talent in the country for a decade" is stupid. He had among the best talent in the country for a decade but not every single year. He also won 10 or more games a year for 11 straight seasons. I will take that over any hot shot coordinator any day of the week.
Mack Brown would be a quantum leap forward for this program.
Personally, and I have nothing to base it on other than sheer opinion, but I'm not a big fan of Mack Brown to SMU. I think the football program needs youth and energy more than anything. Not saying he couldn't hire THAT staff and be a figure head, but just not very excited about it.
If we become a top 25 team after 2 seasons, I'll gladly come back to this post and eat crow.

Clueless post. More like Larry Brown, Part 2
Agreed. While not my first pick, I'd be happy and think the people funding this would make sure the same "pitfalls" they had with June would be avoided here.
If it is a guaranteed contract how can you make sure the same so called "pitfalls" don't happen.
