HC - Mack Brown OC - David Beatty DC - Will Muschamp
That would be, unquestionably, the best G5 coaching staff in the nation and probably one of the top coaching staffs in all of college football.
Let's hope it is not. OC - Greg Davis DC - Manny Diaz

Mack won't see it that way, after all Greg Davis is his BFF. Plus Beaty isn't coming here for anything less than HC.
You think so? Looks like he isn't moving up in-house anytime soon with Spavital being 29 and pretty inexperienced. Thus, it seems unlikely that Spavital is leaving anytime soon. I would think Beaty would look elsewhere for promotion opportunities, and to be Mack Brown's OC would be a good step towards HC.

Greg Davis is Offensive Coordinator at Iowa-mediocre offense but they got a decent record. Diaz is head coach at Louisiana Tech isn't he-so he's not available-opps no he's the Defensive Coordinator there-sorry

Once upon a time Kliff Kingsbury was a pretty inexperienced Aggy OC and he jumped pretty quickly into a FBS HC job. Beaty can jump into a HC job from right where is, his future is a lot safer with Sumlin than it would be with Mack.

Since Beaty is not the OC at aTm but the QB coach or something like that, you would think it would be a step up to be an OC at SMU if we pay him good.

Most Coaches would accept an OC rather than a position coach especially if salary was better-although Beaty already has OC on his resume. Plus Beaty is from Garland and recruits here

Retreads DO NOT WORK OUT.
Larry Brown was an EXTREME exception to the rule, so please do not try and use him as your example for why SMU should hire Brown.

Aggy can beat anything we could pay plus they offer him a much better platform to build his resume (best conference in CFB, access to the best HS recruits). If playcalling is really that big of a deal to Beaty then he has the ability to get a P5 OC job. He's not coming here unless we make him the HC.

aTm would not pay a QB coach 700,000 which would be just as much as Spav makes but we would if needed to get him here as OC.

About three weeks ago my Dallas attorney and frat brother ran into one of the CC's. This certain CC jokingly stated to my attorney (they both have been friends for 40 + years) that it looked like we would be "brown and brown." I find it hard to believe that one of the CC's would joke about this if there weren 't some truth behind the statement.

I will not be a bit surprised if this happens.
I hated the idea at first, but the more I think about it the more I like it.

Spavital stock plummeting, just ask Aggie fans what they think of him after their last 3 losses and the 59-0 Bama shutout?
29 yrs old way too young for HC anyways.
