i don't undertsand this...wish you would/could elaborate. I don't see how it is "obvious" - are you talking Hart, Ford, RGT?

Maybe I'm shortsighted, but why would an inisder the leak the story if ultimately Mack was going to decline the offer? Just to show that we are willing to pay that much? Are we trying to lure some bigger fish with that kind of figure?

If word gets out that SMU can go as high as 4 million/year, we might get some attention not just from coordinators or G5 coaches, but maybe even some HC from the lower tiers of the P5. Now, I'm not saying it's true, but it is plausible that we would leak this with no real expectation of ever hiring Mack.
