June Jone's goal at SMU

Postby mt327 » Fri Oct 31, 2014 9:59 am

Does anyone else recall June Jones saying at one point (maybe after the ASU debacle?) that he had one major goal at SMU but he was not willing to divulge it until it had been accomplished and the timing was right? Unfortunately I can't find the quote on the internet.

Since June's agent said that he "accomplished his mission", I am wondering what that secret goal was. I guess the timing is still not right to divulge?

Jone's "mission" was to get us into a BCS conference. He did that. Unfortunately the landscape changed and his recruiting methods were wanting.

Mrydel is exactly right! That's it in a nutshell. Can we fans now pledge to never mention JJ in any future threads? Enough already, I beg you.

The Tulane, ecu and Tulsa coaches also achieved this illustrious goal. So amazing

Maybe not evil but he is a tremendous piece of sh*t. There's no debating that.

Do you agree with what Junhd Jones said recently in the media? As I recall you were one of the ones that thought that Jones would not bad mouth SMU if he left. You thought he would leave SMU with respect for the school.

It's really pretty simple; June has to make excuses because he's not capable of admitting his own shortcomings

He took the cash, and when the going got tough. He quit. Now, I guess he doesn't have enough millions in the bank or he feels he needs to help his buddy Leigh get a last payday (now that JJ is his only apparent client), JJ has decided to "rehabilitate" his image. JJ has been on cruise control for three years waiting for the P5 job. Rather than keeping pedal to the metal and getting us great recruits, he's chosen instead to sit on the beach drinking mai tai's and railing at the injustice of college football. Go, spend your money and find a job coaching a local pee wee team.
