If I thought the administration was totally committed to having a "TOP OF THE CHARTS PROGRAM" I could sacrifice another $500 to $1000 towards the program (However, I would have to kiss up to my wife). If everybody stretched their pocketbooks a bit we could have a SUPER year. Its totally up to the administration and the C of C. Pick the right guy. Now that "He who shall not be named" (thank you SMU89) is gone it is time for those with power to step up to the plate and lead us out of this time of suffering. Guide us to the PROMISED LAND. Make us PROUD to be MUSTANGS.

The Big 12 needs at least two schools in their conference. If we were winners (10 games a year or more) they would be begging us to join their conference.

When the greedy administrators down at UT in Austin have had enouch and finally 'hook up' with the PAC-10 in order to increase their program's revenue flow and leave everyone in Big 12 behind to fend for themselves, SMU could have a chance. Right now our immediate goal in the AAC should be to continue the path to prominence in basketball and to have a respectable football program and then things could happen.

Disclaimer: everthing I know about sports economics has come from reading Ponyfans...

I think there is zero chance we ever end up in the same league as TCU. They would never allow it.

How many years would we need to win these 10+ games? We will be playing in jet packs before then. For us to get into a P5 under today's layout will take basically legal bribery.

Back to the main point. SMU really has to be more convincing about its comittment than a vaguely worded blog post if it's going to keep younger fans on-board. I want specifics and blueprints before they reach back into my wallet.

That's fine. I do not have any problem with people who do not want to give to this program right now. But I also do not have a problem with the top dogs not coming to us with every detail of what they are doing. You either give on trust and faith or give on results if and when attained. Either way is good for me.

Why should any fan trust SMU? They seem to be content bumbling on with incompetency. See: Video-board mishaps. See: ridiculous play-by-play hires. See: high school-quality football and pre-2014 basketball halftime shows. I don't know what the hell happened in Moody last season...it was great! but a) are those same people still there b) why aren't replicating that high-quality experience with football?

Well first, the same people that do basketball do football. Does not answer the incompetency but that is the deal. Secondly, if you cannot have faith the school will do right then you best find another school, although I do not think you will find another that will personally tell you all the smoke filled room stuff. I am not saying they will do right. What I am saying is that whether or not they lay it all out in the open for you or not, it either is or is not going to work. I for one will not have a coronary worrying about the plans.

All you are going to get publicly is puppies and roses. Just relax and hope for the best unless you have the ability to be a changer. I do not so I will rely on what we have and see what they do.

I don't think there will be much surprise if that is indeed the announcement. Most of my Clemson contacts seem to think this has been in the works since last year, but now that Morris' daughter is graduating from H.S., the timing is better than it would have been last year
