I predict a Christian Pop Warner league is in Hawaii's future...where curiously only kids with hot moms seem to play.

his goal was to screw SMU out of as much money as he possibly could without doing much in return.

The Tulane, ecu and Tulsa coaches also achieved this illustrious goal. So amazing

Perhaps technically, in that the Big East/American was still playing out its last BCS season at the time of their invites. But SMU's admission was to a true BCS conference that only lost that status subsequently. Of course, not that it matters one iota at this point.

I believe he honestly saw a repeat of his Hawaii run to a BCS bowl in about year four.

Then he changed his mind and decided that his inner city ministry no one ever heard about was the real secret reason God called him to 'coach' in Dallas.

Do you agree with what Junhd Jones said recently in the media? As I recall you were one of the ones that thought that Jones would not bad mouth SMU if he left. You thought he would leave SMU with respect for the school.

I don't know. What did he say in the media recently?

AS I recall he had a vision from God that his work was not done with the poor in Dallas.

Life is too short to live it in the rear view mirror. Don't care to discuss June any further. It has been hashed to death.

mt327 wrote:Does anyone else recall June Jones saying at one point (maybe after the ASU debacle?) that he had one major goal at SMU but he was not willing to divulge it until it had been accomplished and the timing was right? Unfortunately I can't find the quote on the internet.

Since June's agent said that he "accomplished his mission", I am wondering what that secret goal was. I guess the timing is still not right to divulge?

327 is right. JJ did say something about an additional goal that he didn't want to discuss publicly. I always assumed it was something about his mission organization. I assume we'll never know.

As for Steinberg's comments, they mean nothing. That's an agent trying to position his client for the possibility of another job. There's no way the agent will say "my guy didn't do what he was supposed to do." He has to get out in front of every microphone he can find and scream about all of his client's accomplishments, just in case anyone listens. It might not work -- a lot of people here certainly think it won't. But he has to say it.

Well then I hope for your sake you aren't watching any smu football for a couple years while we are forced to deal with the aftermath that fraudulent a-hole left us with.

On the other side though if you would have asked any fan of SMU before Junes arrival their opinion if SMU had 4 winning seasons and 4 bowl games in the first 7 years of his tenure most would have said he deserved a long-term contract and a raise. Only the fans watching closely what was happening after the third bowl could see the trend, especially in effort by the coaching staff and recruiting.
