High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not to movehttp://www.si.com/college-football/2014 ... cu-offense
Some interesting insight from Herman. Ultimately, the choice comes down to the fit, resources and the ability to win. That’s what high-profile coordinators across the country will be determining as moving season gets into full swing in the next few weeks. “You’re really betting on the situation,†Herman said. “As good as I think I am, there are some situations that I don’t think Vince Lombardi could be successful in. You are betting on yourself, but you’re betting on all the information that you could conceivably absorb when you’re trying to make that decision.â€
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toBut heck, Lombardi has been dead for years. I doubt he would do well anywhere.

Good point. Do you think he knows he is dead?
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toNot sure if Herman knows but I am most certain that Lombardi does.

Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toI sure hope he doesn't consider us one of those 'situations'.
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toAccording to jj we are
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toIf that is Tom Herman's attitude then I don't want him here. We need someone that can tackle any challenge and be successful, not a quitter, negative bug like JJ.
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toPlaying devil's advocate.. If we aren't one of those situations... Who is?

Kent State “You have to weigh the future risk, but there’s also a future monetary benefit because you are going to make more being a coordinator here than you are being the head coach at somewhere like Kent State,†said Herman, who earns $650,000 per year. “You have to weigh that, the risk of the window closing, the risk of the money you are going to be walking away from.†They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not to
It depends on how he views the "reality" of the situation. - During the Pye Era, our coaches had no real opporunity to succeed. - In 2014-15, there are people who understand that building a program capable of getting P5 invite is critical. If he believes they are in charge and have the cash, he will like our program b/c there is a real opportunity. - If he believes the Pye Era people are running the ship, he should avoid our program like the plague. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toLike I have said before, the quality of candidate we get is going to say a lot about whether there are still a lot of issues for football to be successful or if we have truly done away with the internal barriers.
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toIMO it will also speak volumes about our commitment to a first class, top level program. If we settle for a second tier coach (Fritz et al) vs a top level person ala Morris or Herman then we will have a good idea what the future holds for our fball program.
Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not toDon't know Red. Who decides a proven head coach, although at a lower level is not as good as a coordinator at a larger level school. There is a lot to be said for head coaching experience. Bennett proved that.

Re: High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not todon't disagree on the experience part. however, IMO it is more important to have been coaching at a high level as opposed to DII or lower. i.e. I thing Bob Stitt might be a good OC but not sure he would succeed here as a HC.
High paid assistants (Morris/Herman), to move or not to moveFritz is coaching D1. Leading the Sunbelt in their first year. I know nothing about Stitt.
