If he doesn't win big, it won't be tolerated by the powers that be.

How do you define "win big"? Conference championships? Access bowl bids? Playoff invitations? Or are you saying the next coach will be fired if the team isn't 8-4 (or better) by 2017? 2018?

Lol you are joking...right?

Exactly. SMU hasn't display a "win or else" mentality in 30+ years. You suddenly expect the school to change attitude for the next coach? What tangible indication of that have you seen?

1) If the team isn't 8-4 by 2017, the coach should be fired.
2) If we don't have a "win or else" mentality now, then there is no point to investing millions of dollars in the program.

Expectations/Demands:
2015 - Win a few games, minimize blowouts, retool the roster and offense
2016 - Compete for a winning record. Competitive in all OOC games.
2017 - Must make a bowl, 8-4 minimum record, beat a P5 team
2018 - Win AAC title, compete for Top 25 spot.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

To have any hope of achieving that, the next coaching staff will have to hit on 45+ of 50 recruits ('15 & '16 classes). A success rate that high is tough, regardless the level of recruiting (Top 10 schools would be hard pressed to meet that percentage). Additionally, you are calling for a 2-3 win improvement each year. Not impossible, but definitely not easy. I know most coaches have plenty of confidence in their abilities, but I'd be interested in knowing who can look at SMU's football organization, the current roster, those standards and say "Sure, I can do that!"
