Hi guys,

My name is Tyler Waddell and I am the founder and editor-in-chief of http://aacfootballfever.com. We are a new blog that is dedicated to producing unique American Athletic Conference football content so that fans such as yourself have an outlet other than the occasional ESPN or CBS Sports headline.

(Most) of our bloggers are unbiased and have no affiliation whatsoever with the team they cover, which makes for some interesting topics and angles. We do, however, all have the same passion for college football—especially when it comes to the underdogs and smaller market programs.

If you could, please check out the website and let me know what you think. Any constructive criticism or content ideas are welcome and encouraged. This project is, of course, tailored to the audience, and we are hoping to make it a good experience for everyone that reads.

Thank you and go Mustangs!

Haha, we've been attempting to get creative with SMU content so that it remains a relevant page on our blog :) the coaching search will heat up here shortly, and NSD is just around the corner! We'll have both covered.

Yeah, great point! The coaching search is something to check out on your site. My money is on Chad Morris. BTW I was impressed with how much content you had for us.

Yeah, I think Morris is a good bet. Tom Herman (Ohio State OC) is another name I'd watch. And thank you, our SMU writer does a great job. He's a Wisconsin student! As we continue to grow, I'm hoping to add more content for each program, but balance is one of my biggest priorities.

Any chance you'll have an AAC basketball fever spin off? You'd get a ton of clicks and content from us that way, since, you know, we actually have a basketball team. They shut the football program down sometime back in 2011 after our coach left.

Unfortunately, that's more of a long-term plan for the blog. I don't have much of a basketball background, and my resources are pretty limited. It's definitely on the "To-Do List" though -- just won't be in 2014-15.

AAC Fever, if you don't mind me asking. Why did you start an AAC blog? Any connections to any of the programs?

Hoops would be great. It's tough to get excited about football right now.

I've spent the last four years writing college football for different sports outlets (some major), and have rarely been given the opportunity to write for "the little guys." I love mid-major football and think it deserves more attention. I'm from Cincinnati, so I suppose the Bearcats can be considered a personal connection, though I'm a big Ohio State fan. I've built a few relationships with different athletic communications departments in the AAC, so I'm hoping to use that to my advantage.

I didn't know Dallas was a small market...it is much larger than tuscaloosa and all these dumps where state schools reside in.

Congrats- Interesting site with lots of good coverage. BTW aac- I grew up close to Dayton and folks attended Miami - who used to be a big rival of Cincy. My former HS fball coach still holds many records at UC.

So being a Buckeye fan, what can you tell us about Herman that we might not already know? The consensus SMU pick seems to be Morris, but the more I read about Herman, the more I'm leaning in his direction, if he's seriously interested in the job.

Oh, Miami and Cincy are still big rivals! They hate each other, it's just been one-sided for some time now. I actually attended Miami for a little while -- small world!

Other than Herman being a Texas guy, not much. Coached at Texas Lutheran, Texas, Sam Houston State, Texas State, and Rice before his stints with Iowa State and, now, Ohio State. It seems like a good fit considering SMU's recent success with the Air Raid (not to mention the state's hotbed of quarterback prospects) and Herman's love for the passing game. He'd know the pipelines and, in my opinion, would make them contenders for the AAC in 2-3 years.
