Tom Herman audition

Postby footballdad » Sat Nov 08, 2014 10:16 pm

Up at half 28-21 on Michigan State on the road. 332 yards of offense.

Mostly shotgun & pistol, single back, with a lot of H-back and TE. Nearly perfect 50/50, pass/run balance so far this year.

True dual threat QB, JT Barrett from Texas leading the offense.

Final 49-37 Buckeyes upset State on the road. 568 total yards, 300 passing/268 rushing. Put the full court press on Herman NOW!

I think the ASU beating of Notre Dame was much more impressive. Norvell seems like he would be a perfect fit at SMU.

ASU at home, OSU on the road, ASU 412 yds offense, ND 5 turnovers. Herman's offense vs. Norvell offense in these particular games no comparison.

Not saying Norvell won't make a great future coach but he'd be higher risk at this point. I'd say Herman more qualified at this point based on his age, resume, and 'Texas ties'. Put both on the interview list for sure and see what they have to say.

Herman has been successful at Texas State, Rice, and Iowa State as a coordinator. None of those schools were blessed with many stars recruits and they competed well with the players they could get.

Just what we need- Good OC, runs an interesting and aggressive offense, and has strong Texas roots.
Only problem is if Urban will actually let him go. Don't think we will win if it comes to a bidding war.

ND was pathetic in that game. no reason for 5 turnovers.

Herman makes 650K, there won't be much of a bidding war unless Ohio State wants to give Herman a Smart/Morris caliber salary.

And they very well could. I think it will depend more on whether Herman really wants to move up at this time and if we can convince him this is the place to be.
