This is shaping up to be a nightmarish 1st year for that 4 team playoff that was going to help solve the national championship controversy.

If Baylor and TCU win out, who represents the Big XII? Anyone think TCU wins that game in Ft Worth? Does anyone think the Big XII deserves 2 spots when they don't play a championship game?

If ASU or Oregon win out, does anyone think the PAC-12 champ doesn't deserve one of the 4 spots?

If Florida State wins out, the defending champ is in (and might be the least deserving)

If Ohio State wins out in impressive fashion, does the committee forgive that 1st loss as they were trying to break in a true FR QB?

If Bama wins out but beats Miss St in a squeaker, and Miss St wins out in impressive fashion, does the SEC west deserve 2 of the 4 spots?

That is what is going to be fun. I would bet fists will be flying in the selection sessions. According to Jeff Long it is already getting testy and it will only get worse. But I think it will be better to have a group of people figuring it out than a computer. And no matter what happens there will be a lot of anger spewed. I love college football.

Seems anyone saying that point to a 12 year 4 team playoff contract, and are adamant it will not be changed in the contract period. So we shall see.

The Big 12 is down to just 3 ranked teams. No way they deserve 2 spots. OU was overrated early. OSU is young and overrated. WVU is good but not great. Tech is a circus. Texas is still figuring out what they're doing.

The only teams worth bragging about are TCU, Baylor and KSU. TCU is 1-1 against those with only 1 notable non-conference game, against a Minnesota team on par with WVU. Baylor is 1-0 with KSU still to play and no non-conference opponents worth mentioning.

Also, Minnesota is likely to be the underdog in all 3 of their remaining games, and will likely end up with at least 4 losses. There are really no impressive wins for the whole conference.

The Big 12 as a conference has just 3 wins against other P5 teams with winning records.

WVU 40-37 Maryland
TCU 30-7 Minnesota
ISU 20-17 Iowa

Do not see how a room full of "experts" can put TCU ahead of Baylor if they both win out, since Baylor will have won the head to head and they both played the worst team in college football in nonconference.

Agree. While I think TCU is probably the better overall team, you are going to have a huge controversy if they both win out and TCU gets in ahead of Baylor having lost the head-to-head matchup.

The primary argument is TCU's non-conf scheduling was better, but both were very weak. TCU (Samford, Minnesota, SMU);
Baylor (SMU, Northwestern St., Buffalo). Minnesota might be 7-2 right now but their schedule to date is laughable and they already lost to Illinois, with 3 more losses on the horizon against Ohio State, Nebraska & Wisconsin to finish the year.

Baylor also ends the season with a tougher schedule against (OSU, Tech & KState), whereas TCU finishes with (Kansas, TX, IowaSt)

Let the controversy begin.

I can see that point but I also think some people will factor in that it was a home game for Baylor. What I hope they do with all of these teams is ask "who would I bet my house on to win 1 game on a neutral field?" That's the way I would decide it if it was down to TCU v Baylor or Baylor vs Ohio St, etc...

Nice wish, but in all honesty, do we really think this will be decided on anything other than the potential to bring the most fans who will spend the most money? In that case, OSU will beat out both TCU and Baylor. Between TCU and Baylor, I have no idea based on how they have it currently rated.

Sorry, but if I am in the room, then I say that W Va wins handily if they do not turn over the ball 5 times in their territory.

This is what I love about this system. I hope they are filming the sessions so some day we can see and hear what goes on in the room. Jeff Long said it has already gotten a little testy and I think it only gets better ( or worse) from here.

If both win out, is Baylor not the Big 12 champion as well? If so, argument pretty much over.

Big 12 champ and head-to-head winner pretty much trumps all other hypothetical, woulda, coulda, shoulda stuff. (you would think)

Not necessarily. This is a panel of people yelling at each other. They actually are looking at tape to help determine who they think is better. They said that is why they placed Alabama over TCU last week because Alabama looked better on film. This week will be very intriguing with ASU and OSU having big wins. I am enjoying it.

I get what you're saying, which is pretty ironic since the 'new & improved' playoff system might very well end up more controversial than the old system.

Saban already selling his 'style' of football and criticizing 'the spread' after LSU win: "I love it. I love it," said the 63-year-old coach with a grin, his reading glasses on the table in front of him in case he needed to peruse the stat sheet. "That's a tough physical game. That's old-fashioned ball. That's the kind of football that when I played, you played. Nothing spread about that. You better butt the guy in the throat that's across from you. Both sides. Get your hands inside and control the blocker and get off and get ready to hit a 230-pound [tailback] rolling through there behind a 250-pound [fullback]. We did it all day. Fifty-six times."

Definitely think the OSU win was more impressive than ASU win since ND basically gave it away with 5 turnovers. Watched most of OSU's game and really like that offense with Tom Herman. Great scheme, mixes it up, uses TE & Hback, perfect run/pass balance.

You know, Texas is playing pretty well right now. Me thinks the reptiles from Fort Worth may be up for a long night in Austin on Thanksgiving.
