Same way TCU beat Okie St and West Va which knocked them both out of the top 25. I am already sick of all the talking about it. Just play the season out and have the debate in a month. I bet at least 3 of top 6 lose a game anyway.

I will give you your argument there. I did not know what happened with the TCU schedule in that regard. Only saw the Baylor example in a committee write up this week. I have no problem with TCU other than my earlier mentioned jealousy. But if I were on the committee I would be looking at wins and losses first and head to head second. They are not considering head to head until last.

I hear ya. I got no problem with that line of thinking. I don't necessarily agree with it but it makes sense.

Hey ReedFrawg,

I'm not a fan or hater of either TCU or Baylor, but do you honestly believe that TCU should be ahead of Baylor if both win out and TCU lost the head-to-head battle?

I have to believe if they both win out that Baylor needs to leap frog TCU due to the head to head. If they cannot do that then why couldn't they proclaim the loser of the championship game as national champion if their schedule happened to be harder?

This is how I would look at it objectively. (I can actually remove my personal bias pretty well.) Regardless of the two teams, I would ask myself who I would bet my house on to win the game right now on a neutral field. Doesn't matter if talking TCU, Baylor, Ohio St, whatever.

Baylor beat TCU on a last second FG at home in early October. Would I factor this in? Yes. Would it be the only factor? No. I think a lot depends on how both teams finish out the season.

Sure, and therein lies the problem with this new system. As Mrydel mentions, 16 guys sitting in a room arguing about their subjective 'opinions', each influenced by their own politics and bias. Always going to be an endless stream of 'yeah, but this', 'yeah, but that'. Maybe this is exactly what the committee was aiming for all along. More controversy & more water cool talk?

Better to have computers involved and hundreds of voters if you want more of an objective decision.

Agreed but I do like a system that at least allows the possibility for a small school like TCU (or Baylor) to pass a school like Alabama in the rankings after both teams win a game. That would have been impossible with the old system.

ReedFrawg you guys did beat WVU on a last minute field goal too so don't take merit out of Baylor's win. And in the Baylor game, Baylor scored 24 unanswered points to win that game so what happened to TCU those last 10 minutes? I could make the argument that Baylor would have taken out TCU earlier if they played like that 4th quarter for a full game but if I were to bet money on it I think TCU would win a close one in a neutral field.

Interesting-didn't the NCAA with P5 support turn down the Big 12's request to have a Big 12 Championship with less than 12 teams. May come back to bite someone in the [deleted] because either Baylor or TCU likely would have eliminated the other in a Big 12 Championship. Still a longshot but if Baylor and TCU win out both could get in under the "one of best 4 teams analysis".

If the SEC devours itself the Big 12 could get 2 in for sure. Just a couple of other dominos falling.

I am obviously biased even if I try not to be but I would bet the house on TCU v Baylor on a neutral field. If I was on the committee I think that is the right way to do it. I would also have Fla St outside the top 4 based on the same thought process.

....and most Auburn fans would have 'bet the house' on Auburn vs A&M 8)

In a rematch I'd bet the house on Baylor regardless of venue. One team had a consistent run game for 250+ and 5.5 out of the RB avg per carry and more passing yards than their opponents total yards.

The other team had two non-offensive scores, had a plus two turnover margin, and averaged around 26 yards per possession after the first two possessions once they changed who covered Listenbee.

Your own coach even said they couldn't stop us so if I have to bet I will take the team that ran and passed easily for almost 800 total yards and almost 20 more per drive than TCU.

BU won the line of scrimmage and it allowed them to overcome -2 turnover margin and two non offensive scores on a day when Boykin played really really well.

TCU is 5 Deep at RB too. That was the backup last week running. Their 3rd stringer rushed for over 100 the week before. Their 4th stringer is a home run hitter. Their 5th Top RB is a 4 star

Ha! Baylor and TCU are back to back in NCAA rushing stats

Baylor 230 ypg
TCU 227 ypg

No significant difference-I take that back TCU averages and incredible 5.7 yards per rush while Baylor averages 4.6 yards per rush. Statistically a slight advantage for TCU which has played better schedule

As stated earlier, Baylor won with a last second FG at Baylor. They lost convincingly to 3 loss WVU. If they beat us like WVU beat them I would agree and I am guessing the committee would as well. You have to get up each week. We have done a better job of that especially considering the 7 game stretch we jus came off. Their loss looks terrible and their OOC is the worst.

Edit: Haven't seen gostang in this thread. Hmmmmm....
