Someone else thinks SMU should be in the Big 12

The billionaire booster was also asked about the state of the Big 12 Conference. Pickens mentioned two interesting targets if the league ever decides to return to 12 teams.

“…Memphis wants in it,” Pickens said. “I was vocal back when we were expanding that we needed to take TCU, and Texas didn’t want TCU in. … TCU deserves to be in the conference. It’s an old Southwest Conference school. If we’re going to expand, I’d take SMU, but they’re not competitive.”

There you go. Pickens talked. We listened (or read about it). He apparently isn’t a fan of Gundy, and SMU is a fit for the Big 12.

We are worth more than what our own fans think we are. SMU is a gold mine, and I am glad Boone Pickens has us as one of his schools to add.

I am glad too Big12. and hey, he got what he wanted with TCU against Texas wishes,
so there is history that going with Pickens ideas can work out.

I know I said this on another thread, but just watch, Big 12 could get one or maybe even two private schools in to the Final Four, and then
the rest of the P5 conferences will scream bloody murder. They will demand
that Big 12 add teams and have a Conference Championship game or else
exclude them from Final Four...

and here SMU and Houston are pooping the bed while this is about to play out.

Unfortunately for us Pickens doesn't have a vote and this all becomes moot once title games get deregulated.

Right now we just need to realize we are in the G5 conference and strive to be the best. That would get us a seat at the childrens' table. After we get there we may be invited to the adult seating. Right now we are not even invited to the dinner.
