Look it is quite simple. Of course you can see the game.
Put your suit or Tux on and come to the game. As long as you show up 15 minutes before the ceremony - Your good. Your future wife will be taking HOURS to primp and style and wont look up till right before she takes her fathers arm. My bride to be and I worked together at a bank in North Little Rock, AR. We were trying to decide when and where to get married. At 10:00 one morning we came to the conclusion we would never agree on a date so decided to go on our lunch hour. Left the office at 12:00 noon, drove across the river to the county courthouse, got a license, got married by a local "marryin Sam" and made it back in time for a MacDonalds lunch and back to work at 1:00. After 12 years I still have her convinced it was romantic. Believe me you can work this to your benefit if you wish.
(by the way, my first wedding was a lavish affair with over 500 in attendance. It didn't take)
If only American Airlines really knew why I fly and would be willing to move my flight from London up to 9am so I can get home, get through customs, and get to the game. They have no respect for my needs by scheduling my flight to arrive at 2:20. You think the pilot will get me score updates while we land?

Listen.. I'm most likely coming, but if I miss one home game because of our wedding.. it's not the end of the world. And as far as scene control goes.. I'm marrying an aggie that already now knows the words (and sings them at the games) to Pony Battle Cry and our school song. She goes to every game with me and has become a diehard SMU fan b/c she married one. I'm more worried about my groomsmen showing up tanked for our evening wedding ceremony than going to the SMU/Rice game. Most likely taking the guys to the game that day and hangin out on the BLVD.. easy for me to monitor the alcholics in my wedding. What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

You guys are so lucky. My wife still doesn't know what "First and ten do it again!" means. She doesn't give a hoot about football (much less SMU football). She doesn't understand why it means so much to me and she hates it when I talk to an old teammate (I tend to revert back to communicating in grunts and four letter words).

THAT'S GREAT. She knows the words to Pony Battle Cry and Varsity. She knows more than most SMU alums and students, and she is an Aggie to boot. Where in the world did you find such a gem. Gongratulations on your upcoming wedding and I wish you the best of luck for many many years. Just send 'da money.
My husband and I were mindful of each other's respective sports affiliations as well as those of all potential guests when picking a date. Immediately upon becoming engaged, when asked when the date was going to be, our response was "Not sure yet except that it will be sometime in between the Masters and the beginning of College Football Season." This accounted for college football, college basketball, baseball playoffs, and a number of other major sporting events (because I don't count the NBA finals -- yawn, and, although we love hockey, the Stanley Cup Finals could always be TiVo'ed).
I only missed 1 game because of a wedding -- the OSU game at Ford a couple of years ago. Had every intention of leaving the reception late in the 1st half to get to the stadium in time for the 2nd half, but then I checked the score.
I got married during early bowl season, but of course, being an SMU fan, it didn't matter.
Jeez, you people who would put an SMU game (more likely than not a loss, badly at that) ahead of your wedding have about the most f--ed up priorities ever. Life is just more important poeple.
Ponyte: We really need to introduce our other halves to each other. If I did not know better, and there was not the age difference, I would swear we were married to the same person. At one point last year I excitedly said "we won" (yes a rarity I know) and was lectured that I had already graduated and there was not we in SMU football. I just shut up and turned my attention back to the Home and Garden channel.
