Returning Starters Karnowski - 7'1'' Junior Center, averaged 10 pts, 7 rebounds. Gary Bell - Senior Guard, averaged 11 pts & 1.7 assists. Kevin Pangos - Senior Guard, average 14 pts
Re: Zags PlayersSo who is the "blanket" on our team this year? When you really really need to slow down a hot hand on the other team? It was NR last year - so will be interesting to see who LB uses in that roll.
Re: Zags Players
Emelogu and Sterling would be my guess, and maybe JMart.
Re: Zags Players
Thought it would be Sterling Brown but that doesn't seem to be the case this year. I guess Ben Emelogu? I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: Zags PlayersSterling is probably our best defender.
Re: Zags PlayersI feel like pangos has been there for 13 years.
"smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Zags Players
Wondering if he will be one of the first subs off the bench. I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: Zags PlayersGiven how we need to start off with stellar D, it would not shock me if sterling starts over Keith.
Re: Zags PlayersWould be weird to mess with Keith and Sterling's heads like that after one game. I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: Zags Players
No kidding. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: Zags PlayersI'd Imagine Ben Moore matches up with Kyle Wiltjer..should be a good matchup.
Wiltjer is 6'10" but is a stretch 4 who is a sniper from 3. Moore seems to have the perfect blend of height and athelticism to guard him.
Re: Zags Players
And to take advantage of him on the other end of the court.
Re: Zags Playersplease keep KF on the bench to start this one... we need Sterling's D
Re: Zags PlayersWiltjer is the guy that bothers me the most.
However, I was really liking the "runnin' towers" I saw at Lamar. I'm liking the lineup: Nic JMart B Moore Cannen Yanick That's a massive lineup and that can also run! Heavy doses of BenE and Sterling. (I've been saying all along that Cannen is that "x factor" should he play with high energy, and I really liked what I saw out of him on Friday - kid can run, shoot, block shots, has length, looks like he's gotten a little thicker too - tons of experience/good bball IQ also of course).
