I think it would be neat to have a thread where if you lost your [deleted] people could buzz in and vote you off the thread. I like to have different perspectives-some posters contribute in different ways-but half the posts on these threads are just worthless panic. Act like you've been there before

go on any chat board when you have a team with high hopes and you lay a stinker
and you will see the same thing.
We played like Shi-ite tonight, and most on here called it the way it was presented.
No biggie, every team lays a stinky, but why would you expect any glowing comments from this
performance?

You just love to bash SMU fans.

I'm being consistently objective. This is the best bball team SMU has had since I've been associated with it -- 25 years . . . well, this year's and last year's. AND I'm VERY excited. AND we are not an elite team yet. Right around that top 25, bubble type team. With Mudiay and MK, we could get very giddy. Need a strong showing this year and a year or 2 of elite recruiting classes and we're on our way.

I think OBF's post was dead on. Let's keep our expectations realistic. We are a good team, the best SMU's had in a very long time with an awesome coach (who won't be here much longer and many are coming here just because of him BTW) and a great home court advantage. We are not an elite team. Not yet. All I'm sayin'.

I followed Gonzaga a bit last year and it was a good team that I think has gotten better, which I thought it would improve.
As far as our roster I'm not happy enough with it and that's all I want to say about that right now.

You really should take a look at other teams forums.... things are pretty mild here compared to others... maybe you should find a D3 team to cheer for.

I still can't believe how good Gonzaga was last night and how poor SMU played. Ponies are better than they showed but Zags are REAL DEAL.

Wow stat lines can be deceptive. Gonzaga only outrebounded SMU by 2 --42-40. Both Moreria and Moore had 8 rebounds. We actually outrebounded them 18-16 on the Offensive boards. I don't remember watching that game. I guess if Moreria doesn't go 1-11 it might have felt like a different game

Had to be later part of second half when we closed the gap

Think this mostly came at the end of the game, but to be fair smu had a lot of chances at the rim that generated a lot of put back opportunities that they missed. Seriously I don't think I've ever seen a team miss so many from inside 3 feet. what hurt us was early in the game gonzaga got every long rebound. They also got 2 rebounds on missed FT (one of which lead to a 3 pointer) which is completely unacceptable.

This would be similar to playing A&M, TCU, and Baylor in the first month. 65 teams will make the NCAA's. This team has as good a shot as any. Please stop crapping on these kids before the season even gets started. They haven't even started league play in a league that that is missing Louisville this year. This is just toughening the team for league play.
