Not necessarily. Last search went till January. Big difference if true we finalize first week of December. And it would be good news since it would mean the new coach wants to be here rather than playing us for a pay raise.

I thought "Done Deal, Next Week" first started with the prolonged SMU to the Big East charade. The invite to a BCS conference, football only invites for Boise and SDSU, discussing a basketball slate that would include Georgetown and Villanova...That seems like an eternity ago.

But if the deal has already been reached in principal, and with Clemson's loss on Saturday, I'd have to think we are looking at the earliest date being Sunday, Nov 30th - the day after Clemson plays in-state rival USC.

No reason to wait until after their bowl game.

Had the meeting today with said Clemson booster and he said if it was 90% Morris to SMU before, it is 99.9% now, to the point that they are going to want to make a quick move on the new OC (who I assume to be Riley, from our earlier convo).

No concrete details on timing - but his opinion again is that Morris is leaving Clemson and unless Lucy comes around and pulls the football from us at the last second, I think he is the next HC at SMU.

I went to a Clemson board and did an "SMU" search. Not too many posts really although he has been discussed as a leading candidate. Interesting that somebody brought up that instead of Chad Morris as a darkhorse for the Florida job why wouldn't they just offer Dabo Swinney although this disappointing season probably makes that unlikely. But some seemed to think that was actually a possibility... Only reason I bring this up is that something like that-Swinney jumping to a bigger program could really screw up SMU's plans.

People in Tuscaloosa believe Morris is under consideration, but believe Colorado State's (and former Bama OC) Jim McElwain and OU's Bob Stoops are the frontrunners. Kirby Smart also under consideration - albeit just rumors.
