Can you name one G5 team competing for a playoff spot, or one AAC team competing for an access bowl? If those are your standards to fill the stadium consistently, we are in trouble.

TCU did in the BCS era and so did Boise, Utah, etc. So what, this year has been hard for AAC, you have a lot of teams rebuilding, others getting better. You need elite coaching and strong recruiting. It is possible to build a power program being in G5. It's about how we do on the field. We need to beat P5 teams and earn that reputation of being a tough team to play. Competing for the AAC championship and a big time bowl is a good place to start if we want to sell out our games.

You do realize they have 60,000 students. They would have to leave 20,000 on the Blvd if they played in Ford.

I realize they have a lot of students, but the point remains: they fill their stadium because they like the product. We will find an audience once we have a product, especially in football crazed Texas. Getting 24,000 out of 1.4 Million to attend on Saturdays should not be an issue with an exciting football team.

The idea of filling ford with alums is not going to happen there just isn't enough. We need t-shirt fans from all areas of dallas. We need to hammer the inner city with marketing and ticket give aways and hope a small percentage of them keep coming back. Jerry world isn't packed with a bunch of popped collars and fur coats. It's filled with crazy assess wearing cowboys jerseys and yelling their face off. Most SMU think they fans are way too cool yell at games. Not anyone on here is course.

Again, I was not trying to solve the attendance problem. I just thought it might be nice to let people know where to park and how to Blvd. It could help.

Let Chad Morris offense fill Ford so all these "we can't do it" people are finally silenced.

Would that fill the stadium?
That schedule would be lucky to put 10K in the stands at Ford and would be a totally irrelevant conference in basketball. Television dollars would probably be even less than we get now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This was not meant to be a full marketing thread like all the others. I had no idea how to get there and where to tailgate my first time to Ford and I went to school there. Had it not been for the Special Delivery invitation to join them on the Blvd I would still be wandering around.
I agree with you. I try to give away four tickets to every game to non-SMU related people. Aside from lack of interest in a losing team, the biggest reason people decline the offer is because they are intimidated by the neighborhood which is unfamiliar to them, and they worry about finding parking. If these kind of folks won't take a free ticket then they certainly won't buy one.

You continue to lose any possible scrap of credibility. UCF is the SECOND LARGEST UNIVERSITY IN THE COUNTRY. That's right. Bigger than Florida, Texas, Ohio state etc...

Did you tell these people about Mockingbird Station? Plenty of parking over there and it's free.

If that's going to be our conference for the long run, I vote to give up football altogether.

Which was exactly my point in the original post. If not the DMN then on the handout schedules that should be placed by every cash register in town should have maps, directions and explanations of where to go, how to get there and what to do when you arrive.

Really? When was the last time SMU had a crowd of 20K for a non-TCU or Big 12/SEC opponent? Which game did everyone look at and agree, "Yes, there's a solid 20K in attendance today?" We need to get to 20 K before we start talking about 25K. ebrooks11 wrote:The idea of filling ford with alums is not going to happen there just isn't enough. Maybe so, but how can we sell to residents in the greater Dallas area if we can't sell to our own alums? Why should random college football fans in North Texas buy SMU tickets when SMU alums won't? Once we maximize attendance from students and alums (whatever that number is), then we can look to the region at large. But expecting non-SMU fans to lead the way is a bit much.
