This rule may apply to some current SMU players

Postby CA Mustang » Sat Nov 22, 2014 12:55 am

"Although, his dismissal from Texas Tech’s program could allow him to be eligible next season based on the “run-off rule”, which allows an athlete to be immediately eligible if they’re still in good academic standing and the previous school files paperwork which confirms the athlete isn’t invited back to the program." http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.co ... -transfer/

I've never heard of this rule. For those who follow transfer rules closely, were you aware of it?

Never heard of it-but maybe its part of the new package of rules designed to added fairness to student athletes

The rule is a few years old. But, the rule requires the old school to not invite the player back. some of the UT players String booted may try to take advantage.

The key thing to understand is that the SMU roster cannot be turned over overnight. There is an absolute limit on the number of players we can recruit in any 1 year. While some players may be asked to leave, there won't be a forced bloodbath. Remember, some players will want to transfer and/or give up football.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

Which coach was it, Woody Hayes perhaps, that responded to the question "what do you think of the execution of your team today" by stating that he was all for it ?
