With this, at least, the American champion would have a shot at a national championship. Right now, the AAC champion is virtually shut out of the national championship before the season even begins.
A three loss team from the AAC doesn't deserve it
If they don't "deserve" it, they will be eliminated from the first round, you dummy. If they do deserve it they win.

And what about the years where a 13-0 champ from the AAC deserves it?

When is that going to happen unless somebody puts together a schedule like JJ did his last year in Hawaii. This year, there isn't an AAC team with less than 3 losses. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

UCF lost bortles, ECU is in its first year, Cincy was undergoing a QB carousel, Memphis just now got better and we suck terribly/June quit. It won't be the same next year and the following years.

Marshall is on track to be the G-5 team that would get the invite in an 8 team playoff scenario. AAC would have no team deserving. Unless you meant ACC (if Ga Tech beats FSU in the title game after losing to GA in which case they would finish 10-3?)

Please check the cupcake schedule Marshall has. It looks even easier than what June had when Hawaii went 12-0. Believe Rice is the only team they have beaten that had a winning record when they played them. If Western Kentucky wins today, that will give them a chance to beat a 6-5 team. Here is the current records of their their opponents: Miami, OH 2-9 Rhode Island 0-11 Ohio 5-6 Akron 5-6 Old Dominion 4-6 Middle Tennessee 5-5 Florida International 4-7 Florida Atlantic 3-7 Southern Miss 3-8 Rice 6-4 UAB 5-5 Western Kentucky 5-5 Clearly this is a team that belongs among the 8 best in the country. No way in Hell a G5 team gets an auto bid to an 8 team playoff. At best it would be conditional like they'd have to finish ranked ahead of a P5 champ to be eligible.

You need a guaranteed bid into a playoff berth to guarantee the G5 are not locked out. In your universe, we would never get a spot in the playoff because the powers that be would keep us out. It's the reason why constitutions are written. You really are a moron and hate SMU. Stop posting here and become a UT fan instead with your moronic statements:

Hard to see a G5 team being ranked in the top 10 unless they went undefeated with a non-conference schedule like we had before going undefeated in their conference. Marshall might crack the top 25 if they go undefeated. Look at all the 2 and 3 loss teams ahead of then from P5 conferences.

If we had gone undefeated with this year's schedule, we would be ranked in the top 10 and would be in that 8 team playoff. All you can ask is for a system that gives you an opportunity
