This years OOC schedule vs last years...

Postby SMUstangs22 » Mon Nov 24, 2014 7:48 pm

Much has been said about our elimination from the tourny if we lose Ark and Mich...

Last year:
Top 4 OOC foes: Virginia (L) Ark (L) Texas A&M (3 pt W) and Wyoming or TCU. All unranked at the time.

This year:
Top 4 OOC foes: 13 Gonzaga (L) 20 Mich (TBD) 25 Ark (TBD) and 6 vote IU (L).

Losing to those four (heaven forbid), especially with the absence of MK, still gives a far better tourny resume than last year. If we beat UCONN, Memphis, and Cincy at home and take care of business against lesser foes... that is a 7 loss season. That is tourny worthy.

I have made hasty comments (I get a little bit pissed off when we lose!!!) But that resume is much stronger than last years team whom lost to Temple, USF, and Houston.

Since we are talking about OOC I wouldn't bring Temple, USF, and Houston into the equation because we still play then but don't have Louisville in the conference. 4 loses to those teams would not give SMU a "far" better chance. We need to win at least one and not fall to Wyoming.

Very good point. I was more so trying to then discuss eliminating the obvious low hanging fruit.

Even more important after EWU beat Indiana on the road tonight.

Arkansas is a must win to make up for the bad loss against IU.
