We are averaging 22,545 fans this year so farWhat is expected for the ECU game? SMU SID or anyone else have the estimate? Supposed to be a beautiful day in Dallas tomorrow.

Here's hoping you guys crack the 30k mark. It'd be cool to have a raucous crowd at Ford this weekend.
Good luck to all those going. Wish I could be there. Will probably be there for the Rice game. ![]() Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
if the weather gets too good-attedanace actually goes down. See SMU v. Rice circa 1975 before 6,000 on a beautiful fall day. Oh well great opportunity to expose SMU to a bunch of kids who otherwise might not get that opportunity. And I think that the players deserve some support from the part-time fans for their well executed comeback. This really is a big game if we are going to turn this thing around. SMU and Bennett desperately need some more wins to impress recruits on his turnaround pitch for the 2006 and 2007 classes.
I was one of those 6,000. Of course, 6,000 at Ford doesn't look as bad as 6,000 at the Cotton Bowl. But there were the good crowds, too. With Mustang Mania cookin' we had 60,000+ for Cougar High didn't we? Believe we opened the game with an onside kick?? Help me here.
Those were the years I got hooked.
My brothers would take me with them and tailgate in the good Blue Parking lot at Texas Stadium. Big nice RV's with a buffet line and hired help. Who sould not love that. SOMEDAY WHEN I MAKE SOME GOOD MONEY - just maybe I could do that. Wow. Great teams and great competitors. GO MUSTANGS win ![]() Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
C.mon PK you can do better. The topic/question was serious about season ticket sales with a supporting statement about the empty seats.
Question: Attendance v. season ticket sales? The empty 'season ticket' chairs are a problem-- does it really benefit us to sell prime seats to old alumni people who seldom attend? Today's kids want to play in front of crowds-- not seats. Playing in front of a smaller crowd that's behind the team trumps the same crowd staggered across Ford so that a cackle of blue-haired widows can hold onto their (decd) husbands tickets. Hey buy the seats back & sell em on SMUMustangs.com the week of the game... When you look at Ford, whoever put together the tickets block has no idea how to put a "crowd" together. Example- East side: band & current students sit near 5-10 yd line while empty ROWS of seats on 20+ yd line go begging. CLUE: Until we regularly sellout, put the students behind the visitor's benches & create a lil So.Miss type crowd OR Coach "K" crowd (Duke). West side: Parents/Family members of FB team are wearing jerseys, red t-shirts, screaming, etc & are then rewarded by being placed near the south endzone?!? This is Marketing 101-- not Wins/Losses. We're talking about creating a better atmosphere. And no BS about winning-- Im talking about the existing supporters. Build from within. We need Mark Cuban type of promotion-- not arrogance ala Tex Schramm. And, yes, Boy Scout days are fine-- but figure out a way to fill in the 40 yd lines first.
Yes, you can have my regular seat smack dab on the 50 today.
I understand and you have some really good ideas, but if you had those seats as your season ticket seats and the athletic department told you they were going to move you and give them to someone else, you would probably be pissed off. My suggestion, at least for the rest of this season, is one way to concentrate the fans into the area behind the team.
Hey, jt. If you have a season ticket, what was your reason for asking for one of mine to the Baylor game? Eh, it doesn't matter...you don't come to the games anyway. What a fan you are! ![]()
