How Long of a Honeymoon?
So, let's be honest, a rapid turnaround would be huge (and very welcome of course), but what is a REALISTIC turnaround time frame.
Let's say we keep the few solid recruits already in this class (Proche and Kearns specifically) and he brings 2-3 good ones with him plus maybe 2-3 solid JUCOs (DL and CB would be my preferred there). We could see a little improvement next year and then have a monster class next year and get back to a bowl the year after and start getting some momentum moving. So, next year, maybe 3-4 wins, then 6-7 win season and bowl and then we are back to being really excited?
Those are my expectations. Not sure if they are too high/realistic but I'm interested to read what others think.

You have low expectations. This class will have 20+ that will see the field next year. 4-6 wins.
Pony up!
Re: How Long of a Honeymoon?
Two year honeymoon, he'll be expected to win or at least legitimately compete for the conference title in his 3rd year. If that doesn't happen then it means he had issues with recruiting/development.

We have to be honest about how bad off JJ left us.
2015 2-10
2016 6-6
2017 8-4
Just trying to be realistic.

We'll win more than 2 next year. I think 4 is the minimum, with the possibility of 6....the weakness of the AAC will be our friend in this case.
Non-conference is weaker as well, with UNT at home and I assume an FCS team as well since only Baylor and TCU are on the schedule now.

This team could easily only win 1 or 2 games next year. Guys, there is so little talent on the roster, it's incredible. Yes, this experience is nice, and yes we'll have a 1000 times better coaching staff, but [deleted] with icing on it isn't cake, it's just a pile of [deleted].
Give morris time. Anyone saying we should win 4 games minimum next year is probably in the same camp that thought we could win 7-9 games this year.
I'm as pumped about Morris as anyone, but let's pump the breaks here and realize we are BY FAR the worst team in FBS and may have only won a handful of games at the FCS level.

Re: How Long of a Honeymoon?
Year one is a total wash. We will be playing a bunch of kids just a few months removed from their senior prom.
Year two we need to see some marked improvement. Hoping for 5-7 wins.
Year three we need to be competing for a conference title and knocking on the door of Top 25.

Back off Warchild seriously.

What are we like 4-11 versus the "weakness of the AAC"? Plus we have to start playing Navy again. Most of the teams in the conference will still be better than us next year.

My expectation is steady progress with a bowl game starting year 3 or 4 and conference championship starting year 4 or 5.

Re: How Long of a Honeymoon?
Thanks. Keep em coming. Personally, there ARE a handful of guys with legit talent on this roster IMHO - Matt Davis, KC, Minor(?), Darrion Richardson, Gaines, Malone(?), Wood, and that seems about it (Deion is a good returner when blocking is good). Our punter also seems to be pretty good (certainly experienced).
We have HUGE holes at DL, LB, and secondary. I know CM is an offense guy, but we need a lot of help on defense more than anywhere else. Our OL has been the biggest surprise (I actually thought we'd be pretty good there this year). We need a playmaker at WR (some size would be good), but my immediate recruiting priority (especially JUCO) would get some big bodies at DL and a stud/shut down CB.

Re: How Long of a Honeymoon?
Everything riding on the QB position. If Davis turns out to be the perfect fit, or Morris brings in another really talented guy, we will outperform expectations.
If Davis isn't the guy, Morris can't find a Juco or transfer, and he has to rely on Burcham, Cassel, Krstich, Colbert, Severt, or Kearns (who I doubt Morris even wants because he doesn't fit the system)....we are in trouble.

Re: How Long of a Honeymoon?
Davis is an amazing athlete, but I really question him as the QB of the future. As a passer, he has looked mostly clueless. He's such an explosive athlete that he needs to be on the field somewhere, just not sure about under center.
It's going to take awhile to get this thing straight. We need upgrades and depth at almost every position. I'll check back with some expectations after Chad has 3 classes under his belt.
