but I am at least impressed that with 6 turnovers we were still in the game. Some things that also were of interest:
1) Is it time yet to GIVE tickets away ( ala MustangMania )with the idea that the weather ( hot ) will at least generate the revenue of a soda...or are we waiting to see if we can draw with the team/atmosphere/alumni/Dallas card only. There is no excuse for such a poor attendance at a home game.
2) I am less convinced that all of the problems are PB. We have lost several close games this year that in years past we would not have been competitive in; added to the equation is a marginally tougher conference this year. Nevertheless, the play calling was abyssmal. That is PB's watch, especially to tell Burns that the game is ours at the start of the 4th quarter. The older I get, the more I like to run the ball...with a TE the size of a small northeastern state, run the 'I' every now and then...
3) I did not turn the game off after a bad play with 2 minutes to go this week...and we were in possesion of the ball twice in the last two minutes.
It is still heartbreaking to watch an implosion, but this team remains strangely entertaining.
4) Finally, at the risk of being labeled a sunshiner, I believe that there will be more wins this year than last year...I just wish there was a retart button for Baylor, Marshall, ECU...every game except UAB and tcu...

he had multiple tips at the LOS, he had several bad reads, and he did cost us this game...after he was instrumental in winning a game against UAB...if he gives SMU the best chance to win, he should continue to start. If Phillips is not going to be R-shirted, he should get some snaps if for no other reason than to let each starter/QB know that all positions are up for play each week.

They DID give tickets away to the FCA today, had a kids day, and people still didn't show up. It was quite embarrasing being there with the low turnout. The only thing I can think of is the USC/ND game and most students are going to be watching that game.
I would imagine people will show for the Rice game just because it's homecoming.
We will have 3 wins this season - only 4 games left. Rice SHOULD be a W.
GO USC - I hate ND.

No way there were 12,000 in the house-there were about 82 on the east stands. Maybe 8,500 actual attendance-including many free kids and scout.

Texas has sunset legislation for its state agencies. Sometimes you wonder if the sun will set on SMU FB, and then the sunshine will definitely end for good.

I didn't mention having a beef, only stating the obvious. I was at homecoming last year under similar circumstances and the announced attendance was about 12k. I was seconding what the guy said about imagining people would come for the Rice game because it was homecoming.
I was bolstering the guy's imagination by putting a number on it.
There is a tacet beef in the number 12k. How to change it? I think that's been addressed ad nauseum. Based on the response to another post of mine today, maybe just hire whomever was in charge of marketing Tulane's game in Ruston. That drew 13k; it would be comparatively easier to market in D/FW.
Note: The second paragraph is tongue-in-cheek.

Just got home from Dallas. Paper said over 11,000. My guess was somewhere around 4-6,000. Unbelievably poor turnout. I know the team is not doing well , but I would have guessed people taking wrong turns looking for the mall would have given more attendance than I saw. No students were there at all except the band.
