Where to Build the IPF

Postby friarwolf » Wed Dec 03, 2014 10:58 am

Tear down the strip shopping center where the bookstore is and encompass the old bank building area, dig down to the level of Ford Stadium, and build it there with a facade that matches the new Tennis Center. Put the bookstore and other shops on the side facing Central. Yes, it will be narrow - sorry. Done. Next project.........

Ahhh - don't know about that one.

A lot of tradition (for many of us) is in that little strip mall. I remember visiting those restaurant(s) in the 60's when going to SMU games from Texarkana.

I say we built it in a tower. The field can be in a rotation ball looking over Dallas. We can put lights on the ball too. Then we can make the lights show reunion tower when it shows SMU. People will be so confused.

Who owns that massive parking lot where that old movie theater used to be off of SMU Boulevard on the other side of 75 by the Barley House? It's not in the main part of campus, so I know it's not ideal, but we have bought up some real estate over there anyway, and it's not that far.

That's where Westcott is going. IPF going in Westcott.

Correct on bookstore not being open. Open at least on 11AM on Sundays.

The beauty of the Cine theater acreage is that it has room for the new Westcott and a baseball stadium with parking and a DART station right there. Could be a very dynamic anchor for the East Campus. IPF on current Westcott site would not require the aesthetic concerns that other main campus locations would dictate.

Wish it was open later in the evening, too.

That entire shopping center on Mockingbird looks so mid 90's. Tear that down or renovate it.

How bout we do something like this:

Perfectly reasonable I think given that everything is bigger in Texas.

Sink the current practice fields and put it there and then make the soccer stands look less like a high school stadium by adding a brick facade and you're done.

I do like friars idea though.
