A Shout Out to Clemson Fans

I had to post this. I first was introduced to the kindness and informed fan base of Clemson by a coworker of mine 3 years ago. A Clemson grad and we always enjoyed talking about sports. He had something to cheer for and I did not. 2 years later we met in the NIT. Not only were the new Clemson posters intelligent but they were also respectful. Seemed to enjoy sports for what they are, sports. During that game I texted my coworker when we were down at half (pretty bad) and told him "looks like you got us". He replied saying they had given up a lot of second half leads. When we eventually took the lead I was expecting the "[deleted] you" posts I have wanted to send fellow TCU, Baylor, and A&M fans for years. Instead I got a text saying great game, hope y'all win the NIT. A week ago I got another text regarding Chad Morris rumors which the message was "great guy, I am a SMU fan now".

Now we have these people who saw fit to join our board and not scorn us or trash Morris... but congratulate us and Morris. I post this because I am starting to be shocked by how fair the Clemson fans are. I must say that this course of events has lead me to become a Clemson fan as a secondary team. I congratulate and applaud the bravado possessed by this fan base. Clemson is truly lucky to have them.

I live in Atlanta at the crossroads of a bunch of SEC and ACC schools. Clemson fans take a lot of guff from their conference mates (mainly UNC,Duke, UVA) because they are not "elite", whatever that means. They have a world class engineering program. You should see all of the new business they are drawing to SC. They are not too far behind their ACC bretheren when it comes to academics, and they play an entertaining brand of football. They come down every other year to play Tech. Their fans take over the town, spend money, and enjoy the athletic contest. They cheer their own good plays, and they will cheer for Tech's good plays too.

Thanks for sending us a real ball coach.

We appreciate the kind words. We can't help but be happy for you guys and chad. When chad came here we knew he was looking for a head coaching gig. We are just glad he got one with a team who's fanbase is accepting to him and has a passion for football. We hope our games are scheduled on different time slots so we can watch chad show the rest of the country what we already know. The guy is a winner and whereever he goes winning ensues! We wish you guys the best and look forward to watching smu football get it's mojo back!

Good guy and I hope he turns it around there. I'd love to see you guys take out some of the big dogs there in TX again!
