Ross predates June. So does Tam. Ross stuck around and tried to keep recruits on the line while we waited for June. You need to keep somebody around (not necessarily forever) and he is the logical choice. Not a position coach; not a June hire.

Have you guys never been part of a large reorganization before or corp acquisition? Somebody needs to be kept around.

So get him an extremely organized assistant/junior staffer who can do the day to day work and let him work on this. Kind of surprised by keeping these two. Maybe just a short term continuity thing and hasn't found replacements yet . . . maybe give them until spring to prove themselves under his new org/culture . . .

That was kind of my take on it; I can't imagine dead weight being tolerated very long. They've both been around a while so you give them a shot to get it together and if not they'll be shown the door in short order. But damn, I can't believe we didn't keep Carlos!

True. At my old employer, the new boss came in an got rid of a friend of mine because he didn't really understand what she did. Two months later, he tried to hire her after he discovered that she was the only person in our Fortune 500 company who knew how to create a very important report. She told him to ...
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

Now that he is gone, I kind of feel sorry for him, except he cause me so much pain. It was really unfair to him to put in over his head. But that was his choice.

Great question, should be shown the door with the rest. Hopefully just a temporary holdover during the transition. This guy screws up more paperwork, meal plans, etc.....totally inept.

What exactly does a "Director of Football Operations" do at a University?

Among other things, arrange the seating plans on the charter, pick out and arrange for the team hotel, meeting rooms etc

Cash used to do that in addition to being head trainer. Trainers always had the best rooms!
