Since few if any have seen him play, I'd not make a comment on his abilities. He lit up the East Bay League this season -- a league that includes DeLaSalle and annually produces 1-2 D1 QBs. I'm assuming that his style doesn't fit and/or other opportunities are coming available to him (West Coast schools). Interesting to see if you would think Garrett Gilbert 'fit' into Coach Morris' system if you didn't know that he won two state titles within it.

Don't know if it will be soon but I am sure Coach Morris will get one.
Remember when we used to say that about Tiki?

I totally agree about Davis' play this year. I'd like to see him on the field somewhere b/c there's no doubt he is a legit athlete. But his QB play, particularly decision-making, has been wildly inconsistent this year. Almost to the point where it looks like something more than just "he's new to the system."
Can we just give Davis the benefit of the doubt and a shot in the Morris scheme please. Again, if he can't make the throws in that scheme, Morris will figure it out pretty quickly and work on moving him. I would still argue that any evaluation of Davis in the June scheme is worthless because they were oil & water. Let's reserve judgement until spring ball.

Thank you! Guys, we need QBs in spring ball. Davis isn't moving anywhere. Most likely we would have Severt, Colbert and Davis at QB in the spring. We need all three. And Davis has athleticism to make it happen in the CM offense. There is a reason he recruited him to begin with. And I think it is one of the reasons CM thinks we can win right away. If we do bring in CV, then we will sign one more dual threat frosh QB who can compete immediately. If, in addition to that, we bring in a JUCO QB, that will tell you what CM thinks of Davis being able to play next season. But I really doubt Davis moves anywhere.

I'm a little disappointed in this one. I'm going to have to have faith in The Chad since I'm assuming he thoroughly reviewed this guy's game and saw something he didn't like and so didn't reach out to him to keep him like Proche. I'm assuming we'll see quite a bit of transfers, and I'm hoping it's in the 5'8"/5'9" 170 pound range and replaced by big ugly DTs and head hunting safeties. (and ONE tall receiver with some speed).

Take a look at his offer list, a lot of coaches reviewed his tape and saw things they didn't like (hence the lack of offers).

You guys are quite funny. Every time I make a positive comment about a player I'm suddenly their father! I don't think I can be Severt & Davis' dad at the same time. Just think Davis will look much better in the right scheme. Morris will obviously find 'his guy' at some point. Until then, it seems highly likely Davis is the lead candidate to run the show next year. Would love to see Tristen Wallace jump on board.

That would be wonderful. Whether Davis is at QB, RB or WR, he will be on the field somewhere. He's the best athlete on the team.

Perhaps HCCM told him that he would probably pull our offer, but wanted to give the kid cover to say he decommitted. That way, the kid still looks like a good prospect to those interested in him.

I agree. I'd like to see Davis get a spring in under The Chad and then see. AND we need a stud QB recruit to commit soon. AND Tristan Wallace later.

Funny how people act like you must be some player's dad just because you're urging caution and wanting to give a guy a chance to prove himself under a new (and actual) coaching staff.
Quite the intellectual leap, methinks.
