Currently under construction is the Harold Clark Simmons Hall as part of the school of education. Once the building is finished, the sign on the front of the building should read as follows:
Harold Clark Simmons Hall (aka Athletes Hall)

We're going to need some B-school tutors. Proche said the deciding factor for SMU was that he wants to major in Finance--he reports a 3.6 GPA

Tutor structure will change for the better, that's all but done. Ludden going away forever would be great also.

I wouldn't worry about Proche. He seems to have his stuff together.

We finally have a Coaching major in the school of education with a 2.0 GPA requirement and first 100 spots reserved for athletes. That's actually something JJ and MK did not benefit from (not that I'm making excuses, just saying I think that's the last major piece of the puzzle to make us equal to most football peers).
Hope the tutoring, etc sees improvement ASAP.

I will donate my already bookmarked, highlighted and annotated valuations book. I also can recommend a tutor at $50/hour

Administration and the new coaching staff will "LockArms" according to CM and I believe him.
More importantly, the previous FB regime (JJ) wanted us to believe they were being held back. There is no evidence of that other than JJ wanting to deflect from his own performance in recruiting and on the field, while making no real attempts to engage students, alumni, fans and Dallas community.
I agree with the observation that CM is the anti-JJ in almost every way.

Not to be too simple...but doesn't the administration have to do what any responsible family or company does beforehand? That would be look at revenue, expenses and see what type of program they can offer. So if they have 25 million in football revenue do you spend 40 million? Obviously you can't relate 6-8 wins a year into more revenue to spend because June did that and still couldn't get Ford Field more than 2/3 full. I believe you have to change the entire mindset of SMU and the belief it is for rich kids and kind of snobby and work the angle of getting Dallas and North Texas behind the program. It is a big state and getting bigger!

I agree with your change of mindset comment, which was specifically pointed out by our new "former TX High School Coach", who now leads our program. CM is down to earth and hardly a preppy kind of guy. He is the anecdote to your comments about how we are viewed. Watch the tweets by HS coaches and player. They feel the change in only two days. It will be a long and challenging process, but your concerns are being addressed by this hire and the new coaching staff's energy level. Feels like progress to me and in the direction you want.

3.6 from Prime Prep right? Whats that translate to at an actual school?

Most of the tutors are students and at Exam time they disappear (can't really blame them... They need to pass their exams too). I don't know if this means the school needs to hire full time tutors or schedule tutors' exams before or after everyone else's.
So the tutors disappear at exam time? So? Surely you're not saying the tutors should take the exam for them, are you? What, exactly, does a tutor do when the athlete (or anyone else) sits down to take an exam?

Got to believe SMU's administration sees what is happening at TCU and Baylor and it has to be killing them. LockArms because I think everybody is fully on board...but we are still a University and our players are student-athletes and that is still going to bother some people

Vickery Hall at Clemson is the academic support building. Athletes can have access to computers, guidance, tutors and career advisers. Student athletes are required to use it's services. The coaching staff is very serious about attendance as I am sure coach Morris will be at SMU. We had a WR now in the NFL suspended from the bowl game vs. LSU for missing a study hall. Danny Ford was against building Vickery. He wanted a new athletic dorm instead. As it turns out Vickery and the graduation rate success Clemson has had since it opened has become a huge recruiting tool. When mom and dad visit with the recruit and see how serious the school and coaching staff are about their child being able to earn their degree it gives them trust that Clemson is looking out for what's best for their son. http://www.clemsontigers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=28500&ATCLID=205531717
