Quite the intellectual leap, methinks.
It's a shorter jump when you consider the "footballdad" screen name...
Texas bites. Baylor sucks. As it was in the beginning, is now, and evermore shall be. Amen.

You guys need to forget about the number of stars in these rankings. The best coaches go out and evaluate talent and work ethic and find guys to fit their program and coaching style. The #3 team in the country doesn't have any 5 star players on its team and very few 4 stars. That leaves 2 and 3 star players coming out of high school and that's where you make you money if you evaluate correctly.

TCU's Heisman Candidate QB was a 3 Star with one other offer - UTEP.

Offers are more important though stars and offers are often in agreement if a player is the real deal. You'll see lots of those 4 and 5 star types on the #1, #2, #4 and #5 teams in the country. You'll find a lot more teams relying on 2 and 3 star players at the bottom of college football than you will at the top.

Agreed. Problem is, offers aren't always reported reliably. And some kids would have gotten offers but for solid verbals early. It's the best indicator, but far from a solid one.

That's what a certain coach used to tell us every year.

And don't think for a second that Patterson wouldn't take all 4 and 5 stars if he had the chance. He just does more with less. Don't be ridiculous

These days someone will know if a kid is reporting BS offers and if you follow recruiting you'll know that there's no such thing as a "solid verbal".

Seems like some people have forgotten exactly why we're in this mess.

Exactly, there is a difference between a star and an actor. Does anyone know where I left my shoes?
