First head coaching job. Hand-picked assistants that he knows very well and is comfortable with. In Dallas...recruiting hotbed. Family guy that puts his wife and kids WAY UP on the priority list. Probably doesn't want to uproot them again. Seeks challenges. Loved the family atmosphere at Clemson which he WILL create at SMU with all the fantastic students, faculty, fans, administrators, and DONORS. Values his young assistants and feels it's his responsibility to mentor them...which he does everyday. Is a winner and will put SMU on the map...which he has done in 5 days. That's all fact. My assumptions are that he has a long-term plan for SMU Football to include facilities, stadium, and student-athlete services with regards to tutoring and studying. Why would he want to leave for A&M, TCU, Baylor or Texas if we're beating their butts every year? SMU nation has already shown their appreciation and DESIRE to be National Championship contenders...which you will be within 3 - 5 years. Enjoy the present and prepare for the future!

Again, being the anti-June, I bet he makes a big production of the Spring game, brings a lot of alums back, brings a lot of big times recruits on campus, and just uses the opportunity to really get people excited about the season.

Better competition, better fan support, better exposure, better recruiting, etc. In the new era of CFB, G5 programs have pretty low ceilings and none will ever realistically contend for a national championship.

Only a few days since the hire and SMU fans already talking about him leaving...

Chad will stay here and make us a winner. He will prove you can do everything you can do at a big time program, here.

This guy is the one and only, FINAL P5 shot for SMU. Best case scenario he is our Patterson. Worst case he wins big in our conference, our fans still don't show up and support the team, a P5 path never materializes, he realizes he's fighting a losing battle, even after successfully turning around the program he decides he needs to go back to the big time.

Glad that HCCM got a taste of the SMU spirit in Moody. He indicated that we need that in Ford. Recreating that atmosphere can certainly be done but will take some effort. Only a winning team will build the fan base and motivate people to leave the Boulevard for the game.

I am excited and would love to see a rockin Ford!

I was confused by this "Spring Game" concept also. Does this mean he's endorsing June Jones' Spring Football League?

Considering The Chad waited until his daughter was a senior in high school (going into college next year) to make the move, I'd imagine he would do the same thing for his son (who is in seventh grade). That will give us at least five years.

No. He said in an interview she wants to go to school in Texas though.

Ha I meant 94's neighbor. Who was being passive aggressive and implying he's too good for us.
