In just one season, linebacker Mitchell Kaufman became one of the leaders of the Highland Park defense, and when colleges started to take notice, he had options. Kaufman visited with PonyFans.com to talk about how his academics opened Ivy League doors to him. But when his hometown SMU Mustangs offered him a chance to play for his parents' alma mater, where he grew up watching games at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, his choice was clear.

"My dad is always on PonyFans.com" I laughed out loud of joy on this, not any maliciousness. Has a family member of a Ponyfans member ever played for SMU? Not counting people that join after the family member joined but a "legacy" as I'd call it?

Based on his measurables seems like a good get for us and obviously going to be well coached coming out of HP.

Just speculation off other boards. My one and only point is that HCCM should feel completely free to assess whether a player fits and not be worried about offending coaches at that school. Mitchell seems like a smart kid and he's received some decent praise for his playing, but all 25 spots need to be up for grabs. If he's one, GREAT!
