Welcome the team back

Post by PonySnob »

Just received from the athletic department:

Please join SMU Athletics and the Mustang Band in welcoming the SMU Football team back to campus after their win at UCONN today! The team busses will be arriving in front of Loyd All-Sports Center at approximately 9:15 this evening.

Thank you for your continued support of SMU Football!

Hope they have a way to put this out across campus. Weekend leading up to exams...more kids are on campus studying and could probably use the break! I know I was spending my December Saturday nights studying...just can't remember what I was studying exactly!

Those guys deserve a welcome back, and Tom Mason deserves a big cheer for being a sacrificial lamb with a helluva lot of class!

Did anybody on here make it the welcome back event? If so how was the turnout?

There was a nice sized group plus part of the band that met the team. It appeared to be primarily older alums and other athletes with a few students. The players seemed very appreciative and were all smiles which made it completely worthwhile to go.

I didn't want to respond on this topic without sleeping on it, and I'm sure I would feel differently if I was the parent of a player or a former player. All that said, I was a bit surprised when I received this email. This team is full of players that are a part of JJ's miserable recruiting efforts. It has been clear that most quit about the same time as Jones. Zero fire. Zero on the field passion for defending the reputation of our school.

While I'm happy that the team won yesterday, avoiding a 0- season isn't cause for a party. I don't feel like parting or giving Mason a giant [deleted] for doing his job, and doing it poorly. Time for all current players, future players, past players, current students, alumni, staff, and friends of SMU to gets this moving in the right direction. Thanking failed effort should be the final chapter of Junes's legacy.

The sun has risen today and it looks like HCCM!

I don't know Cox. I would welcome my son home from graduation at Yale and I would welcome my son home who was released from prison for doing drugs. Love em both even though the paths were different. The one thing these kids did was prove they did not quit. Maybe not Krispy Kreme worthy but at least give them some cinnamon toast.
