So obvious you've never played a competitive sport in your life.

I can attest to SMUer and BOP playing competitive sports having met them

Yep! Only rec leagues for me!

Let me just say that I've been on enough championship teams to know that competative players don't appreciate cheap gestures like participation trophies, they have loftier expectations for themselves. You are either at the top, or hungry, pissed, clawing to get there as quickly as possible.

"Hooray! We beat a team our former head coach had undoubtably penciled in as a loss. Krispy Creme donuts for everyone!" ^^This is why we are where we are^^^

I think you are wrong. I am an SMU letterman. I believe they see it for what it is - an appreciation for the enduring very difficult circumstances. That does not mean they aren't competitive. It means they are a part of the SMU community win or lose.

Gotta love footballdad using the "you've never played a competitive sport in your life" line of humor.

I would be utterly embarrassed if my father was posting the following about the school where I'm getting a scholarship to play football:

"SMU fans are the absolute worst."

"Keep sending in those donations so my son can get his stipend."

Seriously, that kid has got to be flat out embarrassed. I honesty feel for him. Helicopter parents are a nightmare on kids.
Back off Warchild seriously.

....from someone who thinks the players are losers, stealing from the school, not deserving of the welcome back to campus.

Were you at the welcome back party with a protest sign? Quit your whining about me and say something positive about the future of the program and the kids that are out there to 'entertain' you.

Pathetic post !!!! These are kids we are talking about.....how about a little compassion !

They aren't kids. Young adults, at least. Mostly men.

Same group of pathetic SMU students who seem genuinely bothered by the football players, so they get their kicks by trying to hurl insults on this board. Beyond pathetic.

footballdad -

None of these are students. It would be more understandable if they were.

I think 21 said it best. This wasn't a participation trophy. Just an appreciation of digging it out at the end for a win during an otherwise tough season on everyone. I bet Morris liked the mental toughness he saw of the team coming back in that game, and also liked that our community, small as it is is generally classy and supportive even when times are tough.

Just take it for what its worth and move on. Some of y'all are looking to kick someone in the shins so hard you turn on your own.

Yes; I'm a tyrant because I don't see beating a turd opponent on a drizzly day as ticker-tape material and have hopes our athletes would feel similarly...horrors!
