if the trend holds...

we might upset Tulsa. How bout that Sunshine? We have lost the games we figured to have a chance to win and won a couple we didnt figure to compete in. I said last week that beating Tulsa was not something we should count on at all. Therefore, win this week somehow, and we are back on track again in my book. Lose and well, nevermind.

Haha, I hope that you are right! I don't see it happening, but I hope you are right. I am beginning to think its going to be a loooong off-season when we look back on this year.

Yeah, but then if the pattern holds true, we get beat back at homecoming
against Rice. Probably the Owl's first, and only win of the year.

Stallion get's his unconscious wish fulfilled so he can keep being a Cavan

Back on track for what? A losing season? We never left that track.

back on track for a respectable season of 4 or 5 wins including some good upset wins, ie progress. I know you didnt expect or even hope for a winning season so dont make that the only definition of progress now.

For a day, I have been trying to figure out what you would call a trend.

Win a game SMU is a heavy underdog? No. Lost to Marshall. No. Lost to A&M.

Win-loss-win-loss? No. SMU was embarassed by Tulane after being embarassed by A&M.

What trend are you talking about?

It was somewhat tongue in cheek. Lose a game we thought we should have won against Baylor, bounce back and upset TCU. Lose a game we thougth we should have won against Marshall, bounce back and upset UAB. Lose a game we thought we should have won against ECU, can we upset Tulsa?

Not a perfect pattern by any means considering A&M and Tulane, but I'm just spitballing here. I'm not ready to think about Tulsa's punt and kick returner going for tds on our porous special teams coverage yet.

Tulsa has demonstrated with it's success on the field that they have a pretty good football team this year. This SMU team has shown it is capable of beating good football teams this year. Nothing will surprise me on Saturday...from SMU winning this game to SMU getting blown out.

Say what you will about the ECU game. We didn't play well enough to win. Turnovers were the difference. One thing I liked is that our guys never quit despite the mistakes/errors. It wasn't long ago this team would have folded it's tent and gone on to be blown out after giving the ball away as many times as they did.

I'll take reality for $500, Alex.

Seriously, welcome to the real world. Once you come to accept the situation, it will be much easier to deal with it. My first suggestion: drop ALL of your expectations. If this team wins, be pleasantly surprised. If it loses, well, you did not expect otherwise....

get a grip. all I want to know is if CSTV is going to carry the game on Saturday. I actually found Saturday's game reasonably entertaining. Wish I could be in Dallas and be one of the 1500 again. Our guys haven't quit. I'm not quite ready to, either.

and JT: as a USC (Gamec#ock) friend of mine said during their 0-11 1st year under Holtz, "I will always enjoy the tailgating and going to the game...if we actually win, it's just an added bonus". That's a TRUE fan(atic)

Lighten up, Francis. Besides, isn't it time for BIGHORSE and GUNPERUNA to submit their requisite posts of complete and utter agreement?
At least you used a lot of capital letters -- makes you sound edgy and passionate -- the little devil faces help, too. Go nuts, wildman.

In an 11-game season:

Win-loss-win-loss-win-loss-win-loss-win-loss-win 'trend' makes you bowl eligible!
