SMU could hit 10+ wins next season and every year for 10 straight years and they aren't getting an invite to a b12 that has UT (and likely TCU and Baylor). Between UT, OU, Tech, Baylor, and TCU, Dallas is covered.
I actually don't think the b12 expands. I think they apply pressure to move the playoff to 8 teams and problem solved. Then they wait until the GoR expires and then teams start going their separate ways.

You're probably right about the B12 adding us. As for their expansion, they are getting slammed in the media for the lack of a championship game. I think there will be increasing pressure on their commish to make a move, soon. I think they would like to have BYU.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four 2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs

I think they first try to get a waiver to play a CCG with 10 teams. If that fails, then I think they hold for a year or two. If this happens again, then I think they're forced.
My guess (in order of discussion):
1) BYU 2) Cincy 3) UCF 4) USF 5) Colorado State (becomes #2 if they ink BYU) 6) Houston 7) Tulane, Memphis, and UConn (rock - paper - scissors) SMU
One thing is for sure, no conference that was snubbed for weak schedules is going to add a team that just went 1-11.
It's ridiculous to think we are going to move up anytime soon, if ever. We just need to win, have our fans show up, and hope for the best. We don't control anything and are not in a strong position at all. Feel free to convince yourself otherwise, but it's futile.

I agree. The only conference I see having any interest in SMU (and this is very remote) is the B1G - as they need recruiting help/exposure in Texas (see, e.g., Nebraska). IMHO, they would go for UH first - again unlikely.
If the Big 12 could get BYU they would already be in.
WVU while decent at football is an incredible drain on all the other sports. Can you imagine the expense of flying the TCU volleyball ball team to WVU.
the BIg 12 has no good expansion options otherwise they would have done it. So , to say SMU Ina's no chance isn't accurate we simply have no BETTER chance than others.
I agree the Big 10 needs better recruiting exposure and Texas is certainly high on the list.
But my sense is that they wait for the Big 12 GOR to expire and try to snag OU. UT will go to the PAC12 .
The rest of the Big 12 pull in SMU, Tulane and UH.
I agree about UT not going west. I think B12-2 stays in place and maybe they go try to steal a couple of teams from other conference. FSU? Clemson? Though that is highly unlikely
